Exactly one year ago today, my husband and I bought the Simmons Beautyrest Plush Pillow Top (Gazelle) model at Matthews Mattress in Davis, CA. What a mistake and the most horrible year of sleep in our marriage.
Our experience started out similar to 90% of y’alls. Went to show room; got sold on this great mattress (”Our BEST seller!”); laid down on it, heard angels singing while resting in heavenly comfort; came back to buy it two days later where the salesman said only after we paid for it that “impressions in the bed are ‘normal’; slept wonderfully for the first 4 months and then BAM! Massive discomfort and pain.
I started having lower back and hip pains that I’ve never had before in my life. My husband started SNORING so loudly in fact that we couldn’t sleep together. I moved to the guest room for over half the nights. It was horrible. Neither of us were getting any sleep and I was blaming him for it. Only after we came back from a 10 day vacation and sleeping on a different bed (where he didn’t snore once, hmmmm…), did we figure out “Oh my gaud, it’s the mattress.”
“But how could that be? We spent so much money on it. Oh no! It’s past the warranty. What are we going to do?! Maybe it’s all in our heads; let’s sleep on it for a few more months and see if it ‘gets any better.’”
Folks, A) it’s not in your head and 2) it’s not going to get any better. As good as this mattress feels in the show room, 4+ months later, it’s NEVER going to resemble the super comfy mattress you bought and you’re never going to hear those angels singing again.
We are currently going through the dreaded Simmons mattress measurement inspection process. If we don’t qualify for a replacement for another mattress in the store (promised to us by the same salesman who is SHOCKED by this complaint) we’re going to threaten to join the lawsuit (SIMMONS.BED.LAWSUIT@GMAIL.COM), file a small claims suit against the store as well as contact our credit card company to file a fraud report.
