My three year old mattress is going back to the store I purchased it from after countless nights of bad sleep due to major mattress sagging. I’m all of 135 lbs and for the first two years of owning the mattress I slept alone, flipping the mattress every 6 months as recommended. Of course, with my heavy travel schedule, I was only sleeping on the bed a few weeks out of each month — if that much. That should tell you just how bad this mattress is if a relatively light weight person, sleeping alone, only half the time, and flipping as recommended, experiences such terrible sagging.
Now that my fiancee and I are both sleeping on the bed every night, its completely unbearable. We both roll into the center and end up tossing and turning all night long to try to find a comfortable position. The supposed Dual Action technology does not prevent us from feeling the others movements either, like it claims to do. I can feel the slightest movement like it’s an earthquake.
Don’t even get me started on how squeaky and noisy it is. I feel terrible for our condo neighbors.
I finally admitted to myself that I paid way too much for a crappy mattress and called the retail store I purchased it from to complain and find out about sending it back — it is afterall on a 10 year warranty. They sent a mattress inspector to check it out. The inspector measures using a laser to check for indentations. No weight is put on the mattress when checking, so I was a little concerned the extent of sagging would go unchecked. However, the inspector recorded a 2″ sag on one side (up to 1.5″ is acceptable by Sealy’s terms) and 1″ sag on the other (although I could swear it was 1.5″ by my sights). So now I wait for the report to be submitted and for the retailer to provide me with a new mattress.
This time, I will definitely not pick a Sealy.
