There is a clear pattern in the large number of Epinion reviews of Tempur-Pedic: most people love the mattress for the first few years but after three years the romance ends. Why? My four and half year old Tempur-Pedic makes it pretty clear, confirming all the negative reviews: though I weigh only 120 pounds and am the sole user of a full-size mattress, mine sags in the center, where it is now soft, but is hard and higher on each edge. If you decide to try the edge (meaning 12-15 inches on each side) you feel as if you are sleeping downhill on a hard surface, trying not to roll back into the soft center.

My previous inner-spring was still in top shape after thirty years. My wife and I were both lightweights and had little effect on it. Now a widower, I sleep alone on the Tempur-Pedic, which I have begun to think about trashing. It was an expensive mistake. The so-called warranty, which you receive on delivery, has so many evasions that the chances of your dealing with it are nil. And since the softness and sags are brushed aside as insignificant by the warranty, there’s little chance of a replacement. And “replacement” means somehow getting this heavy monster off the bed, packaged, and shipped back to the manufacturer. Fat chance!

In all, a very bad deal.
