We bought our Simmons Beautyrest World Class mattress in 2002 paying > $1500.00 for the pillow top model. We were happy with it the first year, but after that the deep valleys started forming where my wife and I sleep. These valleys got a lot worse over time and the bed became almost impossible to sleep on. We contacted Simmons and they sent out an inspector who measured the valleys and sent his information to Simmons. Simmons rejected our warranty claim saying the pillow top bedding “has more luxurious filling materials that more susceptible to compaction; this should not be considered a defect”.
We were trying to use the bed for a few more months, but the pain became unbearable, so we stopped using it and reopened the claim. Same inspector came into our house and the same response we received from Simmons.
Simmons is definitely practicing in fraud on their warranties because they measure the sagging of the mattresses with no weight on them. They are talking about 1.5 inch natural depression of the top material that nothing to do with ability of mattress to support the weight of the body. The springs are shot but they will always rebound high enough to push the lightweight pillow top back up to warranty specs. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of people posting about this same problem all over the web and Simmons is getting away with not honoring warranties.
