My husband and I purchased a Serta Perfect sleeper Pillow Top Mattress……and box spring….
We were going from a full size bed to a king and wanted something good. We had both decided that enough was enough with a bed that was too small for two substantial people and that had way outlived it’s life anyway. So we went looking……the Serta Pillowtop was the most comfortable one we tried. We looked at traditional sets as well as some sets where we didn’t recognize the brands. We knew we both needed firm support, I’ve had surgury on my back and my husband isn’t a small man, but we didn’t want to lie on what felt like a board. The “firm” or Extra-firm” traditional mattresses felt awful! The pillowtop makes you feel as though you’re on something very, very soft yet the firmness is there. There were several others that were as nice but cost far more. We compared this to Simmons and Sealy bed sets that were similar. Since the construction seemed to be of about equal quality we decided on the Serta.
Serta actually had some features that the others didn’t. Like the triple stitching all around the pillowtop and the treated ticking to avoid stains. Also, the ticking seems to be of a denser material although that might be just my imagination.
WOW!!!!…..no more fights for room…no more rolling to the middle….no more morning aches and pains!!!!!!
From the moment you lie down on it, it surronds you with comfort. It’s very, very soft. Yet, because the softness comes from the pillowtop, the actual mattress is very firm and supporting….what a great idea!!!
It’s been about two years now since we made our change and so far the whole set is holding up very well. We’ve made sure to flip it several times per year and I’m sure that helps. There are no “low spots” or places where springs seem to stick you in the ribs. And the pillowtop is as cushioned as the day we got it. It is cumbersome to flip, however, that’s only occasionally and well worth the effort. I want this bed to last!!!!!
