I spent a lot of time reviewing mattresss and bought a Tempurpedic. A little more than 4 years ago, I bought a new top brand spring mattress. A friend of my mothers has a furniture store and she gave me the whole education about spring count and what makes a quality mattress. I was sold and she sold me a $1,500 mattress for $800. It was a bargin….I thought.
The mattress was fine at first, but it started to sag and loose its form (this was not suppose to happen with this mattress) anyway, my wife and I started waking with neck and lower back pain. We were not sleeping well and the time had come to buy a new mattress.
After going to no less than 8 mattress stores and researching hours on line, I found that no matter what mattress you’re looling at, people’s opinions will vary greatly on any mattress pro or con.
So we took the plunge and bought a Tempurpedic Rhapsody bed. It’s been a couple of weeks and I can’t begin to tell you what a difference it has made in our lives. I honestly can’t remember sleeping like this since I was a young boy. I really look forward to getting into bed every night.
I thought by nature I was a restless sleeper…..wrong! It was the mattress. I sink into the most comfortable feeling bed that just seems to craddle you in comfort. My wife loves it because I’m not waking her by my tossing and turning. I wake up with NO back pain, neck pain or feeling stiff. I’m getting to the age when I though it was natural to wake up a little stiff heading toward the bathroom…. not anymore.
Again, I’ve only had the bed for a few weeks and if for some reason something changes I will re-post my thoughts. But if your’e on the fence about spring or memory foam (don’t buy one of the impostors…a Tempurpedic is an investment) you owe it to yourself and back to give it a try.
I was recently told that most of the major mattress manufacturers are trying to compete with the Tempurpedic. According to the saleswoman that sold me mine, Tempurpedic has not applied for a pattern because they don’t wan’t to give up the technology to others. I did try in the store a competitors and it just didn’t have the same feeling.
As you may know, Tempurpedic never has sales and the price is the same everywhere you go. I was able to get 2 Tempurpedic pillows (there like $120) and I love the pillow as well, a mattress cover and free shipping.
Was I weary of paying almost $3,000 for a mattress? Of course. But did I really want to pay $1,500-2,400 for a spring mattress that would last me another 5 years….no. Tempurpedic has a 20 year warranty and I heard it will last much longer than that.
