In the beginning the Tempur-Pedic bed was very comfortable. But after two and a half years of owning this bed my husband and I both started having back, neck and shoulder pains. Some mornings I would feel like my arms and shoulders were beaten up. It took hours for the pains to subside.

We are in our late forties and I was thinking our aches and pains were part of growing old – not realizing it was our bed causing these problems.

It was a major undertaking just to turn over in the bed because each position I was in started to hurt. I felt like I was tossing and turning all night and waking up exhausted. I would say the last six months have taken its toll on both of us.

We were out of town at a relative’s house sleeping in their bed and awoke to no pains – that’s when I started to realize it was our bed causing the pains and not our age.

I did a little research on Google.com and found the http://www.epinions.com website and was stunned that we are not the only ones having these problems.

We took the mattress top off and examined the Tempur-Pedic box springs to make sure they were not broken; they were in perfect shape. We have discovered that when we first sleep we are comfortable, but later in the night the sagging of the memory foam increases causing our various aches and pains.

For the time being, we have temporarily flipped the mattress over to the side you are not supposed to sleep on. We are hoping the regular foam will maintain its firmness. We bought a good egg crate foam mattress topper and a Laura Ashley Cluster Puff Mattress Pad. We are staying away from the memory foam on purpose. So far this combination is very comfortable and we will see if this works for the long haul.
