My husband and were in need of a new mattress! The one that we currently had was in bad condition! We had heard of the Select Comfort Adjustable air mattresses before on television advertisements, but had never actually seen one. One day while walking through our local mall we noticed that Select Comfort had just opened a store! We decided to go in and "test" their mattresses. We were impressed!
Each side of the mattress can be adjusted to your preference. My husband could finally have the soft mattress he preferred and I could have the firm mattress that I desired all with the press of a button on a hand held remote control!
We talked with the salesman and before we knew it were approved for financing. It was explained that the new mattress would arrive through UPS in several days. He then went on to explain the quick and easy assembly of the frame which replaces standard boxsprings.
Basically it’s just the insertion and tightening of butterfly style nuts and bolts into pre-drilled holes. Next he explained and demonstrated the assembly of the mattress. Two separate air chambers are inserted into the mattress (which unzips for easy access) along with several pieces of "foam". Very easy! We were also told that the air chambers were constructed of 24-gauge flexible rubber which is the same material that coast guard rescue boats are made of! Then, after the mattress is "assembled" both chambers are attached through separate plastic tubes to what Select Comforts calls "the Firmness Control System". It’s similar to a miniature air compressor and it tucks out of sight under your bed.
We went home very excited. Several days later our mattress arrived just as promised. My husband assembled it with the enthusiasm of a young child opening presents on their birthday! It took less than a half an hour. Next, we laid on the bed and adjusted the firmness to our personal liking.
I don’t know how I would’ve slept without this mattress during my pregnancy! It was great being able to adjust the firmness level! Being able to make this mattress soft I was even able to sleep on my stomach during my early pregnancy! Later in my pregnancy adjusting the mattress to a very firm setting helped aleviate my back pain. Meanwhile, my husband had his side of the bed adjusted the entire time to his personal liking.
The cost of the mattress depends on the size you want and the style of covering (we chose the satiny pillow top).
The mattress also comes with a twenty year limited warranty! Five years full warranty, and 15 years prorated.
