Less than 6 months old over 1900 dollar plus Seally Sanstone firm (Stern&Foster owns Seally) king size mattress box spring set from Macy’s is a rip off. The mattress set has a 10 year warranty, but less than 6 months and has valleys and ridge. Inspector determined it is within industry standard. Inspector is not allowed sitting or lying down on mattress. Inspector determined findings by measuring with a stick. Inspection is faulty because mattress has a 3-4″ quilted memory foam topping and hides the defect below. Inspector can’t determine how much mattress sinks without sitting or laying down. Box spring corner was damaged at delivery, I guess that is industry standard also. Can’t tell much about mattress, I relied on store reputation regarding quality or product. As you all know stores give they own name and rating per mattress, there is not a standard you can review a mattress set. I think the key is the store you buy from. I believe this mattress set was specially made for Macy’s and it should be hundreds of dollar less. I will never buy an another big ticket item from Macy’s. I’m stuck with an expensive mattress that feels like 15 years old.
Macy’s costumer service is the worst. I had two no show appointment, and now I have to wait several weeks to get another inspection. You have to wait hours and follow the prongs just to be disconnected by costumer service and when finally get connected to somebody you get a standard reply.
The North Point Alpharetta GA Macy store I bought it from won’t get involved; it keeps referring me to costumer service.
Macy’s sold me an inferior mattress made especially for Macy’s by Stern Foster probably over charged me by hundreds. The “independent” inspector probably gets paid by the manufacturer or Macy’s; he would not give me his name or the name of the company he works for.
Since the problems I’m having I found numerous postings against the Stern&Foster mattress sold by Macy’s on www.complaints.com Consumers across the USA had the same experience with Macy’s not honoring the warranty on the mattress they sell. Do not buy from Macy’s! Macy’s won’t stand behind the products they sell, doesn’t matter if it has a 10 year manufacturer’s guarantees.
Buyers be aware you can’t rely on mattress manufacturer’s name model, even price, because some merchants are unscrupulous!
