Poor excuse for a Mattress
Positive OK the first 3 years.
Cons: Expensive, lumpy, has craters in it.
We bought a Simmons Beautyrest 8 years ago. We’re looking for a new mattress now. We have been turning the mattress regularly. After about 5 years, the mattress started getting lumpy. Didn’t really matter how often we turned it, after a few days, same results. For a mattress costing over $2000, it’s incredibly disappointing. I’m not a mattress engineer, but what the literature and salesman indicated was the right mattress turned out, for us, to be a real dud.
I wish Epinions had been available then.
Dissapointed with daily back pain
Positive Good fabric and stitching.
Cons: Pillowtop is not as supportive as it should be. Mattress is just not comfortable.
I had purchased this mattress with great expectations. I had back pain with my old traditional mattress and my wife had back issues along with pain in her hip. Both of us are in our forties. We made the decision to bite the bullet and buy a “premium” mattress. We soon became aware that paying almost four times more for a premium mattress means nothing. My back starts to ache after five hours in the bed and my wife also has back aches. The pillow top does not maintain it;s shape and soon collapses in the areas of most pressure soon conforming to the body. Quickly it starts feeling like an old mattress. After a year, the box spring is creaking. I must admit that the material covering the mattress and the stitching is of the best quality.
THE VERY WORST
Positive Looks nice on the show room floor
Cons: everything, I would rather sleep on the thirty-year-old rock hard mattress the army gave me.
I cannot believe that a bed with such a name backing it would be so awful. I am on my third mattress in a little over a year. After only about a month or two huge lumps and craters begin to form in the pillow top foam. It then becomes very uncomfortable and causes me to have back pains and a hard time sleeping. I wish I could just get my money back and buy a different brand Oh well, I guess I will just keep getting them replaced. I have nine years left on my warranty. STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS BED.
Great for 6 Months
Positive Solved my back pain for almost a year
Cons: Memory foam just doesn’t seem to hold up
I bought the Simmons Beutyrest World Class Pillow top mattress with the memory foam pillowtop. I bought it because of a recommendation by two chiropracters. At the time I was having back pain and had slept on a waterbed for about 12 years. This bed was great for 6 months, at which time it lacked the resiliancy it once had. Now it’s like sleeping in a tube; hard in the middle where I’m sunk into and when I try for a more comfortable spot I roll back into the middle and have loss of sleep and my back pain has returned. My parents have had Select Comfort beds for a few years now and they have the same problem with their memory foam topper on the one bed the other has none, but the air chamber system works well.
Returned it for another model due to back pain & sleeplessness
Positive Cheaper than the model we ended up with
Cons: Caused searing back pain & sleep deprivation
Thankfully, we purchased this mattress at a local SleepTrain that has an exchange policy. After only a week of sleeping on this mattress, my husband and I were absolute wreaks from sleep deprivation and waking up to searing back pain. Although SleepTrain tried to convince us to keep it for a minimum of 30 days just to “make sure” the mattress wasn’t right for us, we insisted on returning it right away. The mere thought of three more weeks on that mattress brought me nearly to tears.
We exchanged it for a Simmons Latitude with the furniture grade foam pillow top (a more expensive model). The very first night on the new mattress proved we were right in making the exchange — we slept soundly and woke up without any back pain.
If you’ve never slept on memory foam before, we’d recommend that you purchase a cheap memory foam mattress pad and see how you like it before investing in a mattress like this where the memory foam isn’t removable. Seems memory foam is something people either love or hate… no gray area to speak of.
Soothing sleep relief
Positive Great quality for the price.
Cons: QVC no longer carries this bed.
I bought this mattress from QVC several months ago. My teenage daughter had been suffering from unexplained back spasms and I hoped that buying her a new mattress would help relieve some of the pain that was so severe, at times, she was left bed-ridden for days. Since sleeping on this mattress she has suffered only one back spasm and it lasted only one day. She loves the bed’s support and says the memory foam top has a really nice cradling effect.
Queen size backache for 6 months
Positive Nice stitching on the pillow top
Cons: Sloping edges and no spinal support
Because I missed the 30 day return policy by one day, I am stuck with a mattress that has catapulted me into old age. I wake several times during the night, not able to turn easily, due to the quicksand indentations formed in the pillow top. I am close to tears every morning until I get a hot shower that alleviates the throbbing pain along my entire spine. I can get no satisfaction from 1-800 MATTRESS nor from the Simmons Co. For my next purchase, I will definitely investigate the return policy, but needless to say, I will never deal with either of these two companies again.
Simmons Memory Foam Beds Suck!
Positive Nothing
Cons: Hard to make- uncomfortable - nothing is good about our bed!
We are on our second bed (we have not had it for even a year), this one has done the same thing only quicker! My husbands side is so deep he nearly falls out of bed. My side is a hole. I am now seeing a chiropractor- the bed is the most uncomfortable bed ever. I can relate to one of the other comments made- sleeping on the floor is a much better option. We call our bed a camel- the hump in the middle is huge!! Don’t buy!!
Class action lawsuit wanted
Positive It looks nice.
Cons: My back was killing me everytime i slept on it.
I purchased a simmons world class plush top from easy life furniture 3 months ago. What a waste of money. The first week was terrible my back was aching so much i had to take pain killers. i lot of people told me that i had to get use to a new mattress. After one month i had it. I had to go back to my old mattress. It was a good thing i had’nt thrown it away. Easy life furniture told me i only had 3 days to return mattress but it took the 10 days to deliver mattress so the return deadline was even passed before they delivered mattress. They sent somebody to inspect the mattress for defects but the never got back with me. This mattress cost me so much pain and money that i am really upset $1400.00+tax for something that caused me pain and that i can’t use. Calling all lawyers out there let’s sue.
DO NOT PURCHASE - NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT
Positive There are no Pros worth mentioning, buy any other brand.
Cons: If anyone has class action lawsuit information please post it here so others can join.
This was my first pillowtop and boy do I regret ever purchasing this Simmons piece of junk. The soft “pillow” portion compressed within a few months (about 5) and am left with depressions over an inch deep. When on my back, my elbows are slightly raised and it is NOT comfortable to lay like this. I have argued with Simmons for over two years and they say nothing can be done because the bed hasn’t compressed more than 1.5 inches yet. I sincerely would join a class action lawsuit if anyone knows of one please post info here.
I bought a king size bed but sleep in a 30″ wide depression. I hate this bed. I am frustrated every night, guess I need to throw this one away and pay another $1600 for a bed. Simmons customer service is a stone wall of rejection and impersonal concern.
I recommend no one buy a pillowtop and no one buy from Simmons Beautyrest.
Stay away from this mattress!
Positive None.
Cons: Worst bed I have ever had.
This mattress is very comfortable for the first half hour or so until the foam pillowtop “molds” to your shape. I find myself waking up several times during the night in order to try to roll out of the indentation that is formed around me. The bottom of this hole is very hard as the foam compresses all the way down to the springs. I am not very picky when it comes to mattresses but this one is totally unusable! If you want a pillowtop do not buy the foam type!
Going on third Simmons in 3 years
Positive Looks nice in the showroom
Cons: Begins breaking down one month after purchase.
We are now on our third Simmons and each one has developed massive depressions where we sleep. We even spent $900 more dollars from the last mattress and it still sucks. Too bad we are stuck with a Simmons warranty or I would look to another brand in a heartbeat.
Unexpected results
Positive Nice material and good beginning feeling to the mattress
Cons: Does not last. Mattress just gives out after a period of time.
With my Simmons Beautyrest Mattress that I have owned for approximately 9 years. I paid alot for the top of the line mattress at the time and expected it to last for longer than 9 years. The mattress has steadily declined in firmness and developed permanent grooves where we slept. Just recently my husband and I have both had back related pain and find ourselves tossing and turning every night. It has become almost a necessity to shop around for other mattresses. I am disappointed.
this is the best mattress in the world
Positive perfect.
Cons: nothing.
I have one word for this mattress: Heaven. I have had my bed for almost 2 years and have loved sleeping on it every single time. My friends and family are always lying on my bed to enjoy the exceptional comfort. I bought my Simmons Beautyrest for a fantastic price at the very end of January 2006 at SleepCountry in Hillsboro, OR. The salesman said the new beds were coming in, so the store had an unbeatable price: $600 for the mattress and $300 for the box spring. I have had no regrets. In fact, it was one of the best decisions I made. I highly recommend this mattress. Choosing a somewhat firm mattress with the pillow on top is ideal. It will make at least one aspect of your life heavenly. =) I can’t imagine who wouldn’t want to sleep on this bed.
Pressure point PAIN !!!!!!!!
Positive Looks nice and is comfy for the first 10 minutes.
Cons: You can feel the springs coming through the pillow top on all your pressure points.
For the first six months our bed was comfortable and then it started breaking down. It’s a no-flip so what do you do?
We turned it clockwise (sideways) to try and even out the holes (body crevice) we were making. There is a hump in the middle and we sleep in the valleys.
After 8 months, we began feeling the springs coming through the pillow-top. It is so uncomfortable and painful. When you first lay don it is O.K., but after 10 minutes you sink right down to the springs.
This is a strong DON’T BUY….
After 2 years we are looking for another mattress brand and Simmons isn’t on our list. I am thinking Tempurpedic.
Buy another brand
Positive Nothing good about Simmons Mattresses
Cons: Bad Mattresses
Stay away from Simmons, I find their products lumpy, uncomfortable and customer service is very bad. Stay away from Simmons.
