Reviews

Comfort didn’t last

Positive Can’t think of any
Cons: I don’t think Simmons tests their products before they rush them to market.

We loved this mattress, for about 5 months. Then the inner core of individually wrapped springs started to loose their memory and we felt like we were sleeping in two holes. The only way to get a firm sleep was to lay exactly in the middle of the bed. The warranty for ten years is only good if the depression is deeper than 2.5 inches with out weight on it, and the springs have enough strength to bring the bed back to near level, until you lie on it, then they give. I also would avoid the Olympic Queen, not that much wider and sheets are hard to find and expensive. Unfortunately, I think we spent $1800 on a bed we’ll have to replace in 3 or 4 years.

FORGET ABOUT THIS MATTRESS

Positive There are none.
Cons: Simmons is ripping off the public by selling this bed.

I’ve had my mattress almost a year in November and am very dissatisfied with it. It’s already denting in the middle so now I have to sleep on the extreme sides. It’s difficult to change positions, when I wake up in the morning my body is aching.

Like sleeping in a bowl….. :(

Positive I don’t have any pros about this mattress
Cons: Like sleeping in a bowl.

Too heavy.

Warranty no good.

After less than one year, impressions formed that made it like sleeping in a bowl, and we are both relatively small people. I feel like I have to climb out of bed, over a hump. And imagine sleeping on your side or stomach, and your feet and head are higher than your hips. Can you say back bend???

The mattress is way too heavy, which makes it difficult to make the bed and change sheets. I’ve suffered with it 3 years, have developed back problems that I did not have prior to the mattress. I’m buying a new mattress this week. I can’t stand it another month…

The warranty appears to be worth less than the stamp it took to mail in the paperwork…

Don’t buy this mattress!!!

We love it!!

Positive No movement from other people
Cons: No Handles

My wife and I were sleeping on a fifteen year old mattress. We had back aches for the last two years. We bought a king size Simmons beauty rest and love it. our two children join us in the middle of the night.we now all sleep like babies. I think these other people who complained about the big dents in their beds forgot to tell everyone that they weighed 350 pounds per person. maybe they need to support their beds with cement blocks!Try it out Big Boy!

Run From This Bed

Positive The best bed ever for about 5 months.
Cons: The bed leaves body impressions after about 5 months and they don’t come out.

This bed started out to be the most comfortable bed we had ever slept in. That is for about 5 months. Then we started noticing body impressions in the mattress neither of us are large people either. This has only gotten worse you can even see them when the bed is made and I have a thick comforter on the bed. I have contacted the company and was told I needed to take pictures and send them in with some paperwork they sent me. I had the previous mattress set for probably 10 years and it did not have body impressions in it. I am extremely unhappy with the performance of this mattress but it sounds like I’m going to be stuck with it from the other postings I have read.

Terrible Waste of Money

Positive OK mattress if you stay in one position, on your back, the entire night.
Cons: Impression in the pillow top makes changing positions impossible.

We have had this mattress for about one year and are already shopping for a different one. It has about a 2″ thick pillow top which, after only a month, formed two troughs. We contacted the manufacturer to file a warranty claim. They sent a mattress inspector who concluded that this sag was normal and denied our claim.

I sleep fine for the first 3 or 4 hours (bombs wouldn’t wake me), but then want to move to a different position which is almost impossible due to the impression left in the top. The remainder of the night is very restless for me. My wife, although not as unhappy as I am, is also dis-satisfied with it.

Finally a bed that i can sleep through the night in!

Positive Great plush feel

A little higher off the ground
Cons: Very heavy to transport and a little more expensive

This is the third mattress that i have gone through in the past five years. The first one i purchased was a Stearns and Foster pillowtop that performed very well, was comfortable, and looked great but it has a lot of motion! Every time my husband rolled over it woke me up. Same problem happened with my Sealy Posturepedic. Then I finally went to go check out Simmons Beautyrest on the recommendation of a friend. I went into Sleep Train and they figured out that the individual coils would be best for me, and if not I had a full 90 days to return it for something else! I’ve had this bed for just over a year now and it has been the best thing that’s happened to me in a long time. Its soft, yet firm support is perfect to help me sleep through the night, and the best part is I can hardly feel anything at all! My dog can hop into bed at 3 am and I won’t feel a thing!

If you want a comfortable mattress worth the money, look elsewhere!

Positive I can think of nothing I like about this mattress.
Cons: It is too expensive, uncomfortable, and actually makes my back hurt.

It’s difficult to change positions, and I CAN’T get comfortable. I wake up multiple times during the night, and morning with an achy back. I have tried the mattress with and without the zip off top; it makes no difference, being uncomfortable either way.

My husband and I couldn’t agree on a mattress. I wanted a Spring Air mattress with a thick pillow-top. He didn’t like it. He wanted less pillow-top, something more firm. So we decided on the Simmons Beautyrest Exceptionale. Bad move.

My husband says he is getting a little more use to it. I am not, I will most likely sleep in the spare bedroom now. I don’t think I can stand one more night on this mattress.

I am 32 years old, 112 lbs. I cannot sleep on this mattress. So, the person who said you must weigh 350 lbs. to dislike this mattress, will need to find a new reason so many people dislike it.

Beautyrest CRAPOLA!

Positive It felt ok for about a month or so, maybe 2 months max.
Cons: WHere do I start?

We purchased our 1800 dollar Beautyrest Exceptionale mattress in January 2005. Its now June 07 and we have that piece of junk stacked in the garage until I can get the damn thing to the dump. im a heavy guy (150 lbs) and my fat wife of 130 lbs have managed to put large impressions in this mattress to the point it is unusable. I get a better sleep camping in a tent than I do at home. Simmons, If your listening, go ahead, respond to me, will ya?

Deep Impressions After 3 Months

Positive The bed looks and feels nice for the first 90 days.
Cons: Severe body impressions will cause unbearable back pain after only a few months.

We bought this bed for $2,200.00 in September, 2004. Within 3 months, my wife and I began experiencing severe back pains. In addition, my hip began to hurt. We noticed deep impressions on each side of the bed. I am 170 pounds and my wife is a slim 120 pounds so excessive weight is not the problem. I compare sleeping on this mattress to sleeping in a hammock. The same effect and much worse if you sleep on your stomach. The bed has become so uncomfortable, we have been forced to sleep in our guest room in order to avoid further back pain. We are in the process of filing a warranty claim and we hope Simmons will accommodate our requests in an amicable manner.

Spend $2K for 30 days of sleep

Positive It has none!
Cons: Price, Sags, Breaks Down Fast, STAY AWAY!

After 30 days of owning this bed it started sagging and having body impressions.

After 60 days we had a mountain down the middle of the bed. I felt like I had to struggle to get over the big hump in the middle to snuggle up to my wife. We thought it was comfortable the first 30 days and then it seemed as though over a 3-4 week period the mattress began to break down. I have never had a problem with a bed hurting my back and now both my wife’s back and mine bother us from this bed.

Our energy levels have decreased and we grunt from the back pain this mattress has given us. Bottom line, do not buy this mattress. I think Simmons needs to go back to the drawing board and throw this design away.

Good for 4 months

Positive Comfortable at first.
Cons: Terrible pillow top (foam system), expensive.

Out of all the beds I laid on in the store, this was by far the most comfortable and of course the MOST expensive. Had the bed delivered and like what most other people claim, it was comfortable for the first few months. By about the 4th month the bed develops body impressions and sinks towards the middle. At about 3 months I thought maybe it just takes more time to get used to. Then about the 4th month, I had it. I called the store where I bought it and they came out to look at it. They measured a 1 1/4″ depression in the middle. When you get out of the bed in the morning, it’s more like 4 or 5″. In the middle of the night, you move towards the end to get more support. The bed is just horrible. I get the feeling Simmons knows about this problem, because the store I bought it from gladly accepted it for return even though the warranty says it has to have a minimum 1 1/2″ depression. Do yourself a favor and look at other brands.

Not a very comfortable mattress

Positive Soft and pillowy and high off the ground.
Cons: Offers No support.

I bought the Beautyrest Exceptionale St. Andrew. If you are looking for a firm mattress to give you good support, forget this one. It has an ultra plush pillow top that does nothing in terms of support. I weigh 105 lbs and I have to find a new position every night in order to get comfortable. Forget it when my husband is in the bed (he weighs 200 lbs), he makes such a deep impression that I feel we are in two different beds. The warranty on this is useless, there is nothing the manufacturer will do for you if you dont like this bed or if you find out that its defective after a while.

Did not like body impression that formed

Positive I liked the MSI feature, it definitely helped eliminate me noticing when my spouse moved.
Cons: Mattress does not hold up to the way it felt in store for long.

I bought a Simmons Exceptional Super Pillow Top. It was the best mattress ever for about the first 4 weeks. Then I started to notice that when I woke up in the morning, I was in a pit that had formed. Once the pit had formed it was cumbersome to change position and I could not roll over onto my stomach as it was too uncomfortable, just imagine trying to sleep on your stomach while sleeping in a hammock, with you body curved that way. I found myself sleeping near the edge where the impression or pit had not formed yet.

I called Simmons and they would not help me as they said all their mattresses are designed to shape to your body over time. Some people may like this feature but I do not as it gives me a backache.

If Simmons mattresses are going to form body impressions or pits so quickly, then maybe Simmons should put mattresses on the showroom floor that already have a pit formed, that way you could find out before you buy the mattress whether you like that feature or not

I will be buying a different brand mattress soon.

Beautyrest Exceptionale terrible for back problems

Positive None
Cons: Very hard on my back, no support.

I purchased a Simmon’s Beautyrest Exceptionale Plush Firm Cal king mattress set and woke up with terrible back pains from the first night. I suffer from degenerative arthritis and traded the Exceptionale for a BackCare Gel and never looked back.

Very Expensive and it didn’t last long

Positive None
Cons: Very expensive; Indentations; Sags

Today we’re getting a new mattress because our very expensive Simmons Exceptional with plush pillow top has very deep indentations in the pillow top. Same complaint as everyone else.

I suggest not buying a pillow top mattress of any kind. If you want a pillow top, use one that has a cover and can be removed.

Deep depression, dull impression.

Positive I can’t believe anyone would give this mattress a good review!
Cons: Worst mattress ever.

Too bad I didn’t read the reviews here before I bought one. Same thing happened to me, in 3 months the impressions got fairly bad. Sleep train in California is the retailer, they say they act as a go between with Simmons for warranty. A rep came out and measured the depressions and found them to be over 2″, gave OK to retailer to replace the mattress under warranty. Problem is,they don’t carry another premium Simmons that doesn’t have memory foam, so I have to downgrade to one that costs $800 less with no reimbursement.

MY BACK HURTS !

Positive comfortable at first
Cons: bad mattress $$$$

For the first 4 months I loved this mattress. Every so often for 2 more months after that my back was hurting when I woke up.. and after that every morning my back hurts when I wake up. DO NOT BUY THIS MATTRESS!

I weigh 130 pounds and my mattress has big dips on both sides ( where my husband sleeps too) of the bed. My husband is lucky and his back has never bothered him… he said he liked our old 20 year mattress just the same as this one we bought. My back hurt with the old mattress so we bought this one.

I sleep on the couch sometimes now because I am sick of my back hurting…the couch feels better. I am dissapointed in this mattress and I hope I can exchange it or something… we paid over $2,000.00 for the mattress.
