This will be a short and to the point review (I promise).
Model Purchased: Serta Perfect Sleeper 15th Anniversary edition, Gala, Euro-top, Queen mattress and box spring set.
Model the Serta Replaced: Custom Comfort Plush IV, Queen mattress and box spring.
Bottom Line: Soft Euro-top is heavenly for my back and very cuddly-feeling. Serta’s continuous spring, 532 coil system feels so different from the Bonnell Coil, 312 spring Custom Comfort mattress. And what a difference a “real” box SPRING makes. The box that came with the Custom Comfort was a semi-flex (meaning it doesn’t perceptibly move at all; ker-thunk). There in lies the problem (no pun intended). Between the inadequate coil system on top of a hard box, no wonder my poor back and neck have been getting progressively worse during the three years I had the set. Plus, a hard box actually wears out the mattress (any mattress) so much faster as the mattress is doing all of the shock-absorbing. Note: When shopping for ANY new mattress, pay special attention to the box spring as it is often overlooked.
The SPS is very pleasing: Excellent spring, a body-hugging support system, very economical ($750 out the door for the set). My body wishes I’d found it sooner! Don’t do what I did and try to rationalize suffering with a bed that doesn’t suit you.
