What a bummer! Serta Perfect Sleeper Mattress I've been doing some checking on what kind of new mattress to get, since the one I've had (for only 6...
I’ve owned this mattress for at least 15 years, and it’s still in excellent shape, and shows absolutely no sign of wear. It’s retained it’s shape perfectly, with no low spots or depressions. The cover and quilting are also in great shape, and show no signs of wear.
When we got married in 1989, my husband also had a mattress. It was some “off” brand he’d bought it locally here in Reno, only a couple of years before we were married. It was absolutely awful! After only two or so years, it developed depressions and dents, and gave terrible support. I was surprised it didn’t last very long, I thought mattresses lasted “forever.” My parents had Serta’s, and they really did have them for decades. So, we got rid of my husband’s mattress, and kept my Serta. It’s been an excellent mattress, and shows no signs of deterioration.
The best thing about the Serta is the depth of support it gives. I’ve had back troubles in the past, and that’s another reason I bought this mattress, it was very firm, and helped support my back. It still does. There’s been absolutely no loss of support or firmness in this mattress.
When (and if) we buy a new mattress, it will Sertanily be a Serta! Why change a good thing! The only thing I wouldn’t recommend with this mattress is a pillow-top. I tried one when I bought this mattress, and just laying on it in the store told me it just couldn’t offer the support of a regular mattress. It’s just not meant to. We tried a feather bed on our mattress for a while, and had to take it off because my husband and I both started having back troubles after we put it on. If you have a back that needs true firm support, just stick to this mattress.
If there is anything that I don’t like about this mattress, it would have to be that it’s very heavy, and just about impossible to turn by yourself. That’s not really a big problem, and it’s really the only thing that I can think of that is a “negative,” and a very small one at that.
I’d highly recommend the Serta. We’ve been more than pleased with ours, and at how it holds up over time. They may cost a little more, but they are Sertainly worth it in the long run!
