Finally, a good night’s sleep

Before I got this bed, I dreaded going to sleep every night because I have degenerative arthritis and woke up after two hours with terrible pain in my back. I was so exhausted, but just the thought of laying down made me anxious because I knew that as soon as laid down, my back would begin throbbing. So, even though the $2500 was immeasurably beyond what I could afford, I bought a Select Comfort. For the first time in two years, I can sleep a full 8 hours. I don’t wake up pain free, but I can sleep through the night. I am constantly adjusting my “sleep number,” and I love that I can experiment with firm or soft settings. I know people complain about it sagging, but I’ve had no problems after 9 months. And, unlike any other bed I’ve ever owned, this bed doesn’t squeak at all during frisky moments. I cannot imagine ever sleeping in another bed. The fact that it is adjustable makes it superior to anything else.

I am in my forties and bought this mattress as I thought it would alleviate back and hip pain. Additionally the dual chambers would be good for both my wife and me. In reality the dual chambers were a disaster as they are separated by a foam strip which offered no support. We always felt like we were rolling into the middle of this queen size mattress. The company did send another foam strip to help with the support in the middle. It did not work. While the mattress was not overly difficult to assemble it did come in four boxes. It took two hours to take it apart and repack. I can not wait for UPS to pick it up. Do not buy this product from a video, television commercial or magazine. The components are cheaply made, I do not see how it will last twenty years.

Total Nightmare (Literally)

Cons: Mold, bad noisy pumps, bad air chambers, no support, I could go on.

This bed has been nothing but a nightmare since we’ve gotten it. The air chambers don’t hold air, the pumps are noisy especially late in the morning because it’s deflated and needs more air. The sales person left out the part that these things can create mold underneath the topper due to warm moist air escaping the chamber creating the ideal environment for it to grow. The company sent us new air chambers only to fail again. They sent us foam to fix a sagging problem, now then we had a hump in the bed.

The long review posted about how great this bed is, is nothing short of a sales representative trying to make his product look better than it really is. I learned the hard way and bought into their marketing scheme. Just do a google search on select comfort problems and see for yourself. I now sleep on a tempurpedic and could not be happier.

A Horrible Bed

A King size mistake - a sleep number king size bed.

This is the worst bed we have ever bought. The exterior under fabric keeps shredding but you wouldn’t know it if you weren’t moving it or checking it. We keep using packing tap to stop the various rips. (This is the second skin we have had.)

WE just sleep on it..there are no wild and crazy things going on.

It is one of the hottest beds around because of the rubber bladders and the foam cover even though we have a pillow type top. Our bed is a top of the line.

The sides breakdown very quickly and the top shifts to the lesser “number” side.

When people visit and ask about our bed. We don’t have to say a thing. We just let a very expensive bed show itself. People just walk away shaking their heads.

We bought the model 5000 Queen size. I really wanted to like this bed but I haven’t sleep well since we bought it (2 weeks now). It has a hard ridge all the way around the outer edge because of the padding and the hard ridge down the middle. Even when the # is down around 25 or 30 to me it still feels hard and uncomfortable…..and then if you have to get up in the night you can’t get out of the stupid thing. Its like you are laying down in a hole. Trying to snuggle with your better half is just not happening because of the drop off in the middle of the bed. If I move a little off center of my air bag it feels like I am rolling down into a hole in the middle of the bed. I am returning this bed asap.
