Select Comfort King Matress & Foundation
Positive The first customer service lady, Marge was a gem!
Cons: Less than 90 days old and two major failures!
We bought this bed to help with chronic back pain. Shortly after the 30-day trial period the pump began leaking air. Marge at Select Comfort (very nice lady) sent us a new one, but I had to remove the old and install the new one and return prepaid the pump. All was well for another 35 days and then the bladder began leaking on my side! Another call to Select Comfort. This time the lady was rude (not Marge)! After basically questioning my complaint (I was waking up in a “cup” due to the air leaking overnight) she finally agreed to send a new bladder. Again, I did the removal and installation, alot of work, and the return of the old bladder (prepaid). So far all is finally working OK, but based on our experience so far, I would never buy another bed from them! This bed was $2500 tax, and so far it has NOT been worth it!
Terribly Uncomfortable
Positive NONE
Cons: VERY RESTLESS SLEEP. SAGS IN THE MIDDLE IF I WANT TO SPOON WITH THE WIFE.
We have had our bed for a couple of years now because we are trying to save up our money for a conventional bed.
This bed sags in the middle due to my wife and I spooning during sleep. It now has a permanent sag. We have contacted the company on numerous occasions and all they did was send me two foam pieces to go between the mattresses. I also have tries numerous settings and wake every morning stiff as a board and a lower back pain that doesn’t go away for several hours after waking up. I would not recommend this bed to anyone…ANYONE WANNA BUY MY SLEEP COMFORT?
BEST FOUNDATION EVER!!!!!!
Positive Great for allergy suffer. Can go anywhere.
Cons: Ugly without cover.
Lite weight and fits on my frame nicely. Its quite and I know that it wont collect dust or anything else in it. Not much to it but it does the job and it has a cover that makes it look good.
Glorified Air Mattress / Torture Rack
Positive Its not filled with broken glass; actually that might be more comfortable.
Cons: Doesn’t come equipped with a time machine to prevent myself from buying this nightmare.
I cannot express how uncomfortable this expensive, over hyped piece of junk is. I bought the Sleep Number 10 months ago and it has steadily decreased in quality and comfort. The “sleep number” system is basically one big air mattress. It is lumpy, prone to deflating, awkward to assemble, and entirely uncomfortable. No matter how many settings I try the results are the same; an uneven mattress of divots and lumps that shifts air back and forth with every movement in the bed. I am a 30 year old man in excellent health, and this mattress has caused back pain, neck and arm pain, sleepless nights and irritability. I despise this piece of junk and despite paying $1600 for it, must either replace it immediately or give up on the idea of getting a good night sleep. Avoid at all costs.
Surprised at negative reviews
Positive comfort, separately adjustable
Cons: none
Wow. I have to say I’m really surprised with the negative reviews. We’ve had our Select Comfort bed for over 5 years now and LOVE it. We purchased it when I was pregnant with second child, so I’ve slept on it through two pregnancies and after. My husband also suffers from chronic pain (fibromyalgia), and swears by it. Whenever we sleep at hotels (and we stay at nice ones with good quality mattresses), he’s dying the next day. He can’t wait to get home to his Select Comfort. We’ve recently purchased an RV that came with an awful, lowest grade possible, mattress and we’re now about to purchase a Select Comfort queen size for the RV. The only problem we had initially was they sent us a king cover for our cal king bed … that was quite frustrating getting it to all “fit”, but when I realized the problem and called, they even sent a person from the store to “install” it for us (I was pregnant and frustrated). Other than that … it’s been a dream!
love it
Positive separate adjustable air chambers.
has held up well.
nice remote control
Cons: being an older mattress it is not as thick as the current mattresses
My bed is over 13 years old and we have loved it. To sleep on a regular mattress is torture. I have MS with constant pain and this bed allows me to sleep. My husband says I like to sleep in a hammock which I can by using a low sleep number but luckily he can sleep at the same time on a rock because of the dual air chambers. Both my married sons have invested in the select comfort bed as well. Number 1 son bought a sleep number queen before he was married (didn’t as mom first)and found he had to buy a king after baby 1 was born. Now the queen is at my oldest child home for my visits.
Terrible! Save $$$$
Positive Zero
Cons: Terrible customer service!
We bought this 6 months ago. I have never had so much pain in my entire life… Each night I get to fight the uphill battle (I sleep opposite of my husband). If two people are sleeping in this bed it WILL sag to the center. Guess what just called the company for a refund of our $2900.00 we spent on this bed… and guess what? they will not take it back!!! They are sending me more foam to help raise the center. I could have done better purchasing a $100.00 deal somewhere. Save the $$$ and don’t even try it out… once you do your stuck with it! If you want a sleep number bed be happy to sell ours! We now have to store this thing and get a real bed to sleep on. It has ruined our sex life due to the chronic back pain we have.
NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!!!
Positive Can select how firm or soft.
Cons: I returned for a refund. Just use an air mattress with topper.
I sent my bed back for a refund! This bed is just like a regular air mattress with a foam bed topper. I could have done that myself for under $200 bucks! Although you can adjust how firm or soft you want, you can still do that with a regular air bed. My regular mattress with a visco elastic bed topper was much more comfortable. I’m replacing the Select Comfort with a Visco Elastic Memory Foam bed from www.bergad.com at half the price of Tempur-Pedic.
Inform yourself about return details
Positive Once you know your sleep number, bed will feel exactly the same for years.
Cons: Not quite wide enough to roll over and stay on the air mattress.
We bought the queen 5000 and slept on it for 30 days. Wife loved it, I didn’t. For me, the air mattress part isn’t quite wide enough. When I rolled over to either side, I would usually end up on the foam near the outside edge or the foam in the “no-man’s land” area in the middle. I will say that they were willing to offer us additional time to our trial period. We decided to return it within the 30 day trial period. CAUTION: Even if you make arrangements to return the bed within 30 days, you will be charged $199.99 return fee + the $149.99 initial set-up fee (if you had them set it up). OR You can ship the parts back to MN using the original boxes (if the set-up crew didn’t dispose of them for you) for $29.99 per box (4 boxes). OR you can ship them back to MN at your own expense. Hope this is helpful.
Select Comfort Queen Sized Foundation
Positive Easy to move in narrow spaces, simple to assemble, okay support
Cons: Very noisy, especially after years of use.
When I first got the foundation (with the mattress) I really liked that I could move it through doorways easily. Over time, I discovered I hated the squeaking of the plastic materials on each other. (The top is tongue and groove that fits together like floor boards.) For me, I’d rather fuss with the the one-time moving pain and have a quiet foundation every day thereafter.
Squeaks and squeaks
Positive Good comfortable, easily adustable support
Cons: Noisy noisy
My husband had his king sized bed before we married so it’s over 5 years old…the comfort is there, but oh is it ever noisy! The plastic “flooring” under the mattress squeaks with every move, and this cannot be fixed. Also, the “topper” part had gotten kinda lumpy which is not good. The support is wonderful, but these other annoyances are making me run to my Sealy with the memory foam topper. Unless they fix the noise problem, I wouldn’t recommend it.
not for elderly
Positive There is nothing good about it as far as I’m concerned.
Cons: Extremely inconvenient. Bad warranty - lousy service
Terrible service, bad warranty - not for elderly - because you have to repair bed yourself. Waited nine days for replacement part so if you have no other bed to sleep on, as was the case with us - you are out of luck!
