Our Sleep Number Bed Has Mold & Bacteria!
Positive None for the money…..
Cons: Bed holds moisture from the inside out, develops mold and bacteria, which smells really bad.
We have had our sleep number bed for less than 3 years. We paid over $2200 for it, and we liked it up until recently, when we noticed a fowl odor coming from the bed. We took off the zippered comfort pad, which smelled terrible. We found that the foam cushion beneath it was wet, and had mold and bacteria growing on it. The moisture was coming from the inside out, as the top sheets and mattress pad were perfectly dry. They do not tell you that this will happen when you purchase the bed, but from the reviews that I have read here, I see that the company is quite aware of the problem, yet they still sell the bed to you! Don’t waste your money on one of these beds. You will just have to buy a new bed 3-4 years later, because once these things mold, you will never get it out of the pads. We are now sleeping on the floor, until we can afford to buy something else. Thanks Select Comfort!
Mold inside your Select Comfort mattress!!!
Positive Allows individual adjustment to desired firmness.
Cons: Mold grows like no other mattress I’ve ever had!!!!!!
I would encourage everyone with a Select Comfort mattress to unzip the pillow top and lift up the foam pad to check the air bladders at least twice a year. We have to clean the mold on ours as well as on the bottom side of the foam pad about every year. We don’t eat or drink in bed and we are not bed wetters. It is always moist and covered with little mold spots. We have had ours for about 5 years and I’m not sure how much longer I will put up with it!
MOLD!!!!
Positive -easy to assemble
- somewhat comfortable
Cons: - Mold- Do I really need to say more?
Sorry, I wrote my opinion under the wrong model. This is the model we have. But, I imaging they all have a problem with MOLD!
Yes, I like my bed, it’s comfortable, not the greatest, but easy to use and so far comfortable, but I wish someone would have told me-
-The pillow top wears down fast.
-The inside of your bed will mold!!! Yes, if you live in a medium to high humidity area, your bed will mold on the inside. This really freaks me out. When I called customer service, the said “Oh, yes that can happen, it happens to normal mattresses too you just can’t see it.” Ok, I don’t know if that is true or not….but I prefer not to see it!!
-The bed is not a miracle. It’s nice, but it isn’t the great bed of all times or the best sleep I have every had every night.
- They will only replace some of the foam once in the lifetime of your bed (hope it doesn’t mold again), also they won’t replace the moldy air chambers.
sorry I ever walked into that store at the mall
Positive a decent bed, I suppose. fun to play with.
Cons: nowhere near worth the price, deceptive return & finance policy, radical right politics
WHAT A GYP!
For the several thousand dollars this mattress cost I guess I expected to have the finest sleep of my entire life. but it was just ok.
my wife hated it, and said it made her back worse.
and I certainly never expected the “free trial period” would cost over 300.00 (to ship it back to the factory).
After that took more than 2 months and several phone calls for Select Comfort to tell the finance company we did not -in fact, owe 3500 dollars.
And today I got another bill -no explanation- for 355.00, for something.
Maybe if I got a free bed like Bill O’Riely and the other demagogues/shills I would have liked it more.
Did finally get a wonderful bed by Simmons; the Sng
Would not buy one again
Positive It is very light weight and easy to move
Cons: Very inconsistent sleeping surface. Makes lots of noise when you roll over on it.
Bought one of these several years ago, and have just not cared much for it at all. Was too lazy to send it back, and just kept putting up with the substandard sleep I was getting. Bought a top of the line Sealy about a year ago and LOVE it. Sleep much better on it than I ever did on the Select Comfort.
Sleeping On a Cloud…That is Select Comfort
Positive Extreme comfort and reliability.
Cons: Mattress does slip around too much. Also, the price is really too expensive.
First of all…let me state that I am a Plus-size woman. Cheap mattresses and my body just don’t get along. So tired of searching for a mattress that would last not only until the water got hot, the Select Comfort commercial intrigued my husband and myself. Had another reason for wanting to try it. My husband had recently sustained a back injury at work, and he needed some true support. I called Select Comfort, and they were most helpful in finding the type that would suit us the best. We bought the Queen Imperial model. My sleeping time has not been the same since. I used to dread bedtime, because it would be another night of tossing and turning. Not anymore…not since Select Comfort entered our lives. In other reviews, I have read that folks change their settings frequently. I have found, that I do not have to do so.
Select Comfort with pillowtop
Positive it is easily moved around because there is no weight to it.
Cons: It felt like a cheap air mattress but with bells and whistles.
I bought the top of the line SC CalKing mattress a while back and was totally displeased with it. I came off of a waveless waterbed….so that may have something to do withit. I just did not think it was that comfy….and reallly got tired of adjusting the “hardness” with the dang remote control….looking for that perfect comfort. I say foey……when I go to bed…..I want to sleep…..not piddle with another remote control. I ended up shipping it back…..even though it cost over 50 bucks to send it back. I ended up going to sears and getting one of their best…….a combo of latex foam…with something inside to make up the difference. It’s a nice bed….and no remote.
Select Comfort Mattresses
Positive None. Seriously.
Cons: Loses shape, air, and credibilty in a few months.
I suspect that people who have overpaid for a product tend
to rate it highly. It’s hard to admit you’ve made an expensive
mistake.
Briefly, I wasted $2000 on my deflated piece of garbage. It’s very comfortable for a few months before it starts to fall apart at the seams. Two other people I’ve compared notes with have had identical experiences.
The “warrantee” is written with invisible ink, and their
“service” is nonexistent.
I openly admit I made a VERY expensive mistake. I was
ripped off, as were my 2 friends.
never again
Positive You can adjust the firmness.
Cons: over time will sag in the middle. Not enough support.
I bought a select comfort mattress because it seemed like it would be good for my back. I have a ruptured disc and now arthritis has set in. I bought the dual chambers, in case I needed it in the future. After a few months, it started to sag in the middle. I bought a foam cushion to go on top, hoping that would help, but it didn’t. The only way it wouldn’t sag is if I made it very firm, which I do not like. I consider it a waste of my money, and it wasn’t cheap to begin with.
