The first thing you need to know about Select Comfort beds is that they are air beds, unlike normal mattresses. The mattress consists of two separate air chambers (you can get one with just one chamber if you so desire). Having two separate air chambers means that you and your sleeping partner can sleep at different levels of comfort. The bed comes with a device that pumps the air into your bed, along with 2 (depending on the bed) controls that allow you to adjust the amount of air in your chamber.
