Finally, a mattress that can hold up for a Full Year without breaking down! If you read my previous reviews about the Simmons BackCare 400 and Simmons WorldClass Super Pillowtop Plush, you will see how much trouble I have had with mattresses. I was beginning to think that I would never find a decent quality product that would withstand one person sleeping on it every night for a full year.

What I like about this mattress:

So far, I have not noticed any noticeable body indentations as I did with Simmons’ products. I am 6′ 2″ and I weigh 205 lbs. I am a side sleeper so my torso stays pretty much in the middle of the bed. With the Simmons mattresses I would end up with a crater in the center of the bed, especially with the BackCare 400. Mattress manufacturers say that body indentations are normal. That may very well be the case but if you end up with your rear end stuck in a crater that is NOT normal. This mattress has been pretty comfortable and so far I am very satisfied with it. Only time will tell.

Things I don’t like about this mattress:

I think Sealy could have put more reinforcement along the edge of the mattress, especially at the head and foot of the mattress. They cut corners by doing this and it saves THEM money.

Recommendation(s):

If you are having a warranty issue with your very own mattress (such as with body indentations) put something heavy on the mattress such as weight(s) and leave them on the problematic location until that person rings your doorbell to come in and measure the bed. I recommend at least a few hours. This may sound like cheating but it really isn’t. If they could come out as soon as you get out of bed that would be the best way to get an accurate measurement but that is not usually the case. I had to put about 200 lbs on the Simmons WorldClass Super Pillowtop Plush mattress before Simmons sent out their third party representative to measure the mattress. It paid off. I really do not feel that they would have taken the mattress back had I not done this because the body impressions weren’t as bad as the ones on the Simmons BackCare 400, my first Simmons mattress. Manufacturers WILL give you the run around if the body indentation is under 1 1/2 inches deep.

My sales rep also told me to come see her directly if I have problems with the mattress because I did not purchase the matching box spring. I am still using the Simmons box spring. There is no need to spend several hundred dollars for another box spring. When I had the problems with my old Simmons mattresses they would not take the box spring back because nothing was wrong with it so I am still using it. Like I said, mattress manufacturers will do anything they can NOT to take your mattress back and you have to be smart. Don’t let these folks get away with anything.

4/3/2008 UPDATE: I have had this mattress set for almost 3 years now and it is starting to break down. I toss and turn a lot and I wake up 3 or 4 times a night. I am getting body impressions and the mattress is starting to crater in the middle where I eventually end up during the night. The foam padding starts to “pancake” and for those of you like me who are sensitive to this will find it very uncomfortable. I know they say this is normal but it doesn’t help you feel any better. I’m looking into buying another mattress set again because the loss of sleep is taking a toll on me.
