My husband and I are both disabled. Sleeping for us had become extremely painful. I have four vertebrae that have fractured on their own and no doubt, more on the way. We’d looked at Nautilus and Sleep Comfort and decided on the Nautilus. We’ve had it for over a year now and love it. During the course of the night, we can let air out or pump it up, depending on how we feel. After going through our second mattress set in six years, we wanted to try something new. We love the change. The only down side is that now when we travel without our RV, hotel beds hurt more than ever. Sleeping in a Nautilus is a dream. Prior to buying it, I’d have to get up after a couple of hours and sleep in the recliner for a couple of hours. No more. If I need change, it’s at my fingertips.
We had a platform bed with storage built for it instead of buying the foundation. I’d seen our daughter’s Sleep Number foundation and just couldn’t justify the cost. While it comes with two toppers — one wool and one silk — we use the silk topper year-round as we both sleep warm.
About six months ago, the pump began making funny sounds. We called Nautilus expecting to get a run around. The guy my husband talked to asked if we filled it without being in the bed. He did and so told him the truth. Instead of giving us the “you’ve abused the product so you’re on your own” like a lot of companies would, they sent a new one out immediately — with a polite reminder to only pump it up to max when we’re in bed so we don’t put stress on the impeller. The only reason we didn’t get it overnight is because we called on a Friday. It was on our doorstep Monday morning. No need to send the old pump back.
We have a Sleep Comfort in our RV. If we hadn’t gotten a brochure from Sleep Comfort offering rebuilt beds at a deep discount, we’d have a Nautilus in there also. The Sleep Comfort has a digital read out. It’s fine but we really don’t use it. It just gives us a base to inflate it to when setting up. With the Nautilus, we just base it on how we feel.
If we had it to do over, we’d probably buy the Premium and just get the silk cover and save money. All in all, we have no regrets.
