As an owner of several Aero Products, I could not resist trying the Raised AeroBed. My wife and I own and have slept on AeroBeds since their introduction and found them to offer a comfortable night’s rest and a perfect surface for those romantic moments when we are away from home. Note: I do not know why no one has ever mentioned this in other reviews as it is a major consideration for married couples. The two disadvantages these mattresses have is that 1. They require an electrical outlet for inflation (not always available) and 2. They are low to the ground or floor. I was able to solve the first problem by changing the valve on the bed to the style used on the travel (minute) bed. This allows me the option of inflating the bed by mouth when no outlet is available. While this may appear an unacceptable alternative to most folks, it sure beats sleeping on the hard floor or ground if you do not have electricity or if the pump on the bed should fail to function. It really does not take that long to do (about 10 minutes for a queen size bed) and if your spouse helps, you can inflate the bed even faster.
When the Raised Aerobed was introduced I just had to get a full-size one to try. The bed inflates easily with the pump but took me an hour to inflate by mouth due to the large volume of air required by the bed. It has a cute dust ruffle and mattress pad combination but the baffle system used on the mattress is not as comfortable as the coil support system utilized on the other AeroBeds. With both my wife and I on the bed it was very unstable and both of us felt as if we would fall off the bed. Needless to say, after one use we deflated the bed and have not used it since. When one considers the hefty price tag associated with this item ($250.00), it really is not worth the money. If you want an AeroBed you will do much better with the traditional AeroBeds available in twin, full, queen and king sizes. I would also recommend that you buy the largest size you can afford.
