***UPDATE*** January 3, 2008
We’ve been sleeping on our Bragada Milan for over a year now. I am as ecstatic now as I was when I first wrote this review a year ago! My back is still pain free and my back-related migraines are a thing of the past.
The mattress looks and feels as great as it did the first week we bought it! We haveve owned a few mattresses and NONE of them looked or felt “showroom” a year later. Our Milan does! Keep in mind that we have five children, so it has not been treated gently either. It’s their favorite place to wrestle (and the cat’s favorite place to sleep).

I bought my Select Comfort bed about 5 years ago. We had trouble with our old mattress sagging so we thought “Let’s buy a Select Comfort- then if it sags we just pump it up!” Brilliant! We bought it on-line and it was delivered to our front door in boxes. Of course once it was un-boxed there was no hope of re-boxing and returning if we were not happy with it- so I’m sure we were counted as “satisfied customers”. It was easy enough to assemble and I like the box (”box spring”) as it doesn’t have the gauze undercover that ultimately just gets destroyed by the cat. Unfortunately, over the course of the last five years I have tried every sleep-number on the dial (each for a minimum of a week) and after about 7 hours of sleep my back is hurting so much I have to get out of bed. I started to think- maybe it’s just my back can’t take being in bed that long. But I find I can sleep for 9 to 10 hours (weekend catch-up) in a hotel bed with no pain whatsoever! Bummer! Is it just me or is Lindsey Wagner looking more and more tired every time I see her on the SC commercials? 8-|
A couple other issues I have with the bed. I think it must wick our body moisture- we are not bed wetters (honest!), but during a recent move (btw: it is very light weight to move) I unzipped the pillow-top cover to discover that the internal rubber air mattresses were covered in mildew! I wrote a letter to Select Comfort asking if they had any advice, and do you know what their response was? They sent me a promotional video!
Nice! X-{ Arrgh!
Lastly- before the select comfort came along my hubby and I would spoon every night- all night. Now with the SC it’s just not comfortable. His side is a different firmness than mine so we have taken to sleeping apart- each on our own side. wah! :,-(
We spent so much on it- we are stuck with it for awhile!

We too have bought a Spring Air Never turn and hate it. We actually have had two. The 1st one that we had (Crystal Lake) through J C Penney’s started sagging after a few months on us. Yes they sent out their so called inspector to see the mattress who said that it wasn’t sagging enough. My husband told him to just lie on it and he wouldn’t of course. There was not only the 2 valleys, there is the big hill between them. After much complaining to J C Penney’s and getting their corporate office involved they did get Spring Air to replace it. This mattress is just as bad if not worse. I am having back trouble now and we are discussing if we should take Spring Air to small claims court over this. I was out looking for a new mattress today and saw another couple looking at Spring Air. They were getting ready to buy it and I told them that it would be a big mistake if they did. They were in there after buying a mattress 2 yrs ago that is a Never Turn, that was sagging. My sister bought a never turn also and she is having the same problem. To be fair hers is a different brand and I feel that the problem is in the Never Turn mattress as in the Brand. If everyone that is having trouble with these mattresses got the word out maybe something would be done about it. Bring back the mattress that can be flipped over and rotated.

** See the end of this review for an update **
My husband and I did a lot of research. We were considering either replacing our entire mattress system, or getting something like a topper to enhance our current mattress. I researched EVERYTHING, and tried out countless mattresses and toppers at local stores.
My husband was in a car accident 3 and a half years ago. He has a couple of bulged discs in his neck and lower back, resulting in chronic discomfort. His sleep has suffered greatly, because he often wakes up with parts of his body numb from poor blood circulation, or just the aches and pains in general.

OK, so I just moved and needed to get a new mattress. I really wasn’t trying to spend too much money, but I wanted a nice mattress. I tried many places and many different sets from plush to firm to pillow top to memory foam. Anyway, I finally settled on this one and it is absolutely wonderful. It is soft enough so that you kind of sink in, but not too soft so that you feel like a hot dog in a bun and can’t move. The texture of the mattress itself is super nice and I don’t feel any of the springs. I have slept better than ever and my back doesn’t hurt any more. My boyfriend and I have very different tastes in mattresses and this is one that we both agreed on. Here is the other thing. Most mattress are marked up significantly. I went to Mattress Discounters and after a little talking and persuading got them to take more than fifty per cent off of the ticket price. DO NOT pay what is on the ticket price EVER. They will always offer you a better deal because they want to make the sale. You can even ask about the clearance beds which are basically floor models. ANyway, good luck and happy sleeping.

Absolute junk
Positive great idea. Spotty success
Cons: pump, leak…
Sorry to be anti this bed but I tried..and hard..too like it.
The pump was broke from day 1. Then the second pump broke and I am screwed. Plus the bed seems to leak over time.
Truly disappointed as this bed isn’t up too par.
Nationwidemattress.com
Positive The service was as good as it could be.
Cons: We couldn’t get used to the air mattress and returned it.

After having slept on a very low-end discount mattress for over 10 years, I realized it was time to move on. After doing some research, it was clear to me that the mattress industry is the biggest racket imaginable, and it would be impossible to comparison shop. Ordering a mattress via telephone seemed idiotic, so I just hit the stores. I live in NYC near a major shopping throroughfare, so all the biggies were within blocks of each other (Rockaway Bedding, 1800MATTRESS, Sleepy’s, Mattress Giant, etc). The ONLY reason I ended up at Sleepy’s was because they had the largest selection. I figured it was six-of-one-half-a-dozen-of-the-other where I bought a set anyhow, since all the model names of brands were different and the prices fluctuated so wildly. Although I knew precious little about mattress, I’m a savvy shopper and assumed (correctly) that would be attacked by pushy, lying salesmen the minute my big toe entered the store. While this is annoying, it’s just part of it, and I think it’s important for customers to understand this so they don’t feel too taken advantage of. You have to walk in there knowing you will get hosed in one fashion or another.

The following is a very detailed review of our ordering and delivery process. Please be sure to read this before buying a Bergad Isoform mattress so you know what you’re getting yourself into.
My wife has had recurring back problems which were compounded by her pregnancy, resulting in very poor sleep quality on our old innerspring mattress. So, we decided to buy a new one.

My husband and I purchased a king size deluxe bed about 5 months ago because I have a bad back and he hates feeling me move around in the middle of the night because I wake him up. It was really hard to invest in this mattress because it is so expensive. When we brought it home, I was really scared that we made a mistake. It smelled so bad and took a good 2-3 weeks for the smell to dissipate. My back hurt worse at first too, but then over time I stopped waking up in the middle of the night, I could get out of bed easier than before and my back didn’t hurt as bad during the day. I really think that because my back was so misaligned before we got the bed, that it took it awhile to adjust to being in perfect alignment while sleeping. I can honestly say that I sleep like a log every night now. I can jump into bed and my husband wouldn’t know it because it doesn’t transfer the motion - coolest thing ever. But, this bed is not for everyone, you will either love it or hate it or be like me & hate it at first but come to love it later. It still has a lingering smell, but I am used to it now. It does get hot, but then I just throw off the covers or uncover the feet & I am fine. My kids love it too. One thing I have to mention too is that “three letter word that ends in x” is a little different too since there is no give in the mattress. Takes some getting used to. Over all I recommend it, but would say to make sure you lay on one in the store for a long period. Remember too that buying a tempurpedic is like buying any mattress - a leap of faith. Good luck.
