I purchased a Select Comfort 5000 queen size bed less than 3 years ago thinking it would be more comfortable than a typical innerspring mattress. For the first few months it really was fine. I found my perfect number to be 40 & was getting a good night sleep.
Then after about 3 months the pump seemed to go crazy. I would wake up in the morning & the bed was at 10 or 15. Way too soft & mushy. Then other mornings I’d wake up & the number would be higher than I had set it…sometimes as high as 70 or 80. I called the salesman to tell him that the adjustment seemed to be changing on it’s own & his response was that the bed needed time to adjust. Adjust to what?…I had no idea. I later found out that room & body temperature will affect the number setting.
It all went downhill from there. It rarely stayed at the same number for long & just the other day the pump died..completely & utterly dead. Customer service told me it would be $148 to purchase a replacement pump plus I have to pay to return the broken one. What happened to the 20 year warranty that they keep touting ?? Read the fine print..it’s only 2 years & after that everything is pro-rated. And to add insult to injury the fine print states they have the right to replace the pump with a refurbished one. To me refurbished means it’s a piece of junk that someone else sent back. NO THANKS.
So now after having spent $1500 less than 3 years ago, I have an air bed without a pump. I’m sorry I bought this bed & could have gotten a very nice innerspring mattress for that amount of money.
