We went from a very firm Serta that became a real pain as time went on. It was a hand-me-down from my dad when he moved into a retirement home. He must have a strong back, because it was breaking ours!

He bought it based on old-school thinking that a firmer mattress is better for your back.

Well, in our shopping for a replacement we tried a Duxiana, which was pure heaven. It is everything they claim it is, including expensive. $3000 for just a queen size was a bit too much.

From there we tried Serta, Simmons, and Stearns & Foster.

Of the three, we rated the S&S the best. These were all in the $1200 bracket.

What really sold me on Select Comfort was the ability to adjust it, and that same feature meant there are no springs to wear out. It would seem this bed can last a very long time because if parts did start to deteriorate, you could replace them, rather than buying a whole new bed.

We can not identify any of the problems found by a few customers.

The top fits the foundation exactly, the bed maintains it shape, and it is very difficult to find any gap between the two air chambers. That may be because we have the pillow-top, but in any case this bed is a huge improvement over what we had previously. We are sleeping very soundly these days. Isn’t that what it’s all about?

The parts that make up the foundation needed some persuasion with a hammer to fit correctly. That was the biggest hindrance during assembly otherwise it went together with ease. The quality of the materials was impressive.
