We purchased our Serta Perfect Sleeper in 1995, for $1300 not including the box springs that were a required additional purchase in order to get the 10 year warranty. We noticed it feeling like it was breaking down pretty quickly. We moved out of state and the issue was put on the back burner. Eventually it got so bad we had to do something. We reported the problem well before the 10 years was up and were told the warranty would not be honored because the mattress was “not new.” Also, the Serta rep said “comfort is not a factor.”
After reading all the complaints here I realize some people are very happy with their Serta, (but I wonder how happy they’ll be nearer the end of the 10 years), and some are definitely not happy. Ours was manufactured in the Glendale AZ plant. It was a Serta Rep in Oklahoma City that told us they would not cover it. Also this rep blamed the box springs–that we’d been required to purchase to get a warranty–for the hump in the middle and the sagging sides. Definitely a waste of money. Serta has lost our business for good, and we won’t hesitate to tell others what our experience with Serta was like.
