One air chamber has been losing air when capped off so last night I attached the hose. While sleeping, it lost all air! (Worst night’s sleep ever.) When I opened the bed to find the leak, I discovered MOLD on the air chambers with extreme wetness. And we’re in the dry winter months! The mold news reports I’ve read recently online are true! My husband is allergic to mold. This could be a reason he’s having increased severe migraines upon awakening.
Beds are NOT supposed to mold under normal indoor use, particularly during the dry winter. This is gross and I’m very unhappy with the company. They need to be held accountable and do something about this mold problem. It’s infuriating to be bilked out of so much money for a literally rotten bed.

Every morning I wake up with severe neck and head pain from the bed, and my husband’s back pain got worse. And this is after adding several mattress toppers including a memory foam topper which has been the only saving grace. I hate going to sleep, now.
In the beginning, customer service repeatedly told us that we just hadn’t found our setting. LIES. It’s been six years and we’ve tried every setting possible. The problem is that the bed does not support the body like their ads claim. It has a hammock affect just like a water bed and sleepers roll into the middle foam center piece continually, which incidentally is the most comfortable part of the bed. (Guess we should have gone foam from the start.) It’s terrible for two people to sleep on as you feel every toss and turn of your co-sleeper.
Plus, it loses air. We won’t have it replaced because it will cost us and there’s no way I’m paying more money to this deceptive company to fix a bed that is terminal by design.
To those considering a “sleep number bed” think again. Not only are there reports of mold issues, but there are hidden costs. If you don’t like the bed and must return it, it will cost you a minimum of $100 to return the thing, and if you have a defect that needs replacing under the full warranty period, you still have to pay to ship it to their service department. Plus, the ad material is false and misleading. The inner air chambers are only two chambers, not several inner tubes. This means your body weight displaces the air just like what happens in a water bed. Don’t fall for it. You’re better off with a traditional spring mattress or foam one. Don’t make the costly mistake we made.
