With much anticipation we splurged and purchased the Celebrity mattress by Tempur-Pedic ($4,500 delivered). We had slept on it at a hotel while on vacation and went to the local Mattress-Firm store and tested it again. It indeed seemed to be the answer to all our sleep problems (spinal alignment & movement). Or so it seemed..
It was delivered and everything seemed great until the morning after. Both mine and my wife’s back were killing us! This mattress did not sleep like the one at the hotel at all, which felt like a cloud. This one seemed too firm and just uncomfortable. We tried it for a week and everyday we woke up with a similar back problem, which is unusual for my wife to have back problems. Finally, she retreated to the guest bedroom and I called Tempur-pedic. They said 1. Do not use a mattress pad with it and 2. It take a while to adjust to continue the trial if we like for 90 days, that they get better with time. I declined and they readily agreed to come and pick it up and refund all except the $195 set up fee. That was fine with me and I’m very pleased with their customer service and free in home trial. One caution, the trail offer is ONLY valid if you buy it direct from Tempur-Pedic, which is why we did not go with Mattress Firm. However, we will be going back to Mattress Firm this week to look into a more traditional mattress.
Mattress buying is very difficult process and Tempur-Pedic may work for you. The great thing about is that I don’t know of any other company that gives you a 90 day in home trial and let’s you return it if you are unhappy. So try it you may like it.
