I’m So Tired…. Sealy Posturepedic Mattress A few weeks ago we decided it was time for a new mattress. We went shopping around to Strawbridges, M...
After spending 3 years suffering with a poor choice in beds (The Simmons Preeminent Jewel - which I will also review here next - if you”re up to a horror story), we decided to bite the bullet and buy a new mattress and box springs.
We still have an old queen-sized Sealy Posturepedic that I bought back in 1982, and while it”s best days are long gone, I still got a better night”s sleep on it than our new Simmons. Based on that alone, we were quite sure a Sealy was going to be our next bed.
We went to the Mattress Firm dressed in very loose and comfy clothes. We started on one side of the room and went from bed to bed until we found 3 in a row that we liked. After spending more time on each of those, lying in the same positions we actually sleep in (regardless of how weird that might look), we narrowed it down to Sealy”s Crown Jewel. We got the king-sized on closeout from last year”s fabric selection so that kept the price down to about $1300. About $300 more than we wanted to spend.
The mattress weighs a ton (that”s approximate - LOL), is hard to flip over and needed deep pocket sheets (about another $200), but gave us the best night”s sleep either of us had in 3 years. Worth every penny, I swear!
You know, after 3 years on that Simmons, waking up stiff and achy had almost started to feel normal. We both started believing it was because we were getting older, but after the first night”s sleep on the Sealy we both felt better when we woke up. And after a week on it, the stiffness, aches and pains upon waking were all gone.
Life”s too short to sleep on an uncomfortable bed. I know hindsight”s 20/20, but if we had to do it all over again, we would have admitted to ourselves that we had made a horrible mistake and dumped the Simmons before that first year was up. We”d never buy anything except a Sealy EVER again.
