Due to back problems I had to change from sleeping on my stomach to sleeping on my side. My old very hard mattress wasn’t great for sleeping on my side. The Sleep Number seemed like just the thing as it is suppose to contour to your body. Well unfortunately it doesn’t seem to work for me. I have tried almost every setting, for weeks at a time, from almost deflated to very firm and can never find a place where there is not too much (or too little) pressure on either my shoulder or my hip. I tried a foam topper and a memory foam topper and still don’t get comfortable. Since I am single I usually sleep with my hip in the gap between to two air bags as that is the most comfortable place I can find. Maybe it’s just me but I can never get really comfortable in this bed. As I travel often have found a number of conventional beds at hotels that were much better for the way I sleep.
The only good thing I can say is about the customer service. My air pump failed after some time because I accidentally damaged the pump. I explained the problem to SC, and that it was my fault, and they replaced the pump for free.
