Actually it’s only been a day but I’ll update in about a month. I got the King Koil Perfect Contour Extraordinaire, the Hathaway, from Rockaway Bedding. They brought it yesterday and, on their comfort exchange, took back the Spring Air St. Cloud Boxtop that I initially bought. I thought I wanted the Spring Air because I was replacing a very old firm mattress that I had padded and padded over the years and so thought I wanted soft soft soft for my new mattress. Don’t know if the Spring Air was defective but thing started sinking inside of a week. I’m 5′6″ about 140 lbs, my husband is 5′11″ about 170, not large people by any means, but let me just say that for a while there the climb in and out of bed was giving us fantasies of Kilimanjaro.
I was about to get the Simmons Winchester, which is a eurotop plush, also called the Regency, Pure Exuberance, Templeton, etc., but upon more extensive (some might say obsessive) research, saw the many bad reviews Simmons got. Even on the store model of the Winchester, I could see the bed beginning to lose its shape which many reviewers complained about.
So as good as the Simmons was to lay on in the store, I got the King Koil. It also felt very good. It’s a eurotop, which means it has some good cushiness to it, but I can also feeeeel the support. Instead of sinking, you melt into it but only to a certain point where the support kicks in. It could be considered kind of firm, but it’s a pliable firm. It may soften after a “break-in” period, which would be fine, and in the meantime, I can always add some extra padding if I choose. For now though, I think I’ll just enjoy melting into the good support. A firm eurotop. Imagine it. I dunno. I think I may have actually found the perfect bed! I’ll let you know in a month, then after that if you don’t hear from me, all’s well.
