3 months ago, while taking my time moving into a 3rd flr walkup, my cousin loaned me her never-opened Intex raised airbed until I could get someone to help me move my bed/mattresses. I didn’t expect much, but being a chronic insomniac with a bad back, I figured it would be better than the floor for a couple of wks. I expected a “camping mattress” experience, and was shocked to see it inflate so effortlessly, and actually be stable and firm! The flocked baffles were uncomfortable and very hot the first night, but when I added my 3″ memoryfoam topper, it turned into the most comfortable bed I’d ever slept on! I decided to forego my old bed and have been blissfully sleeping on it ever since. Queen sheets stay on nicely (maybe b/c of the topper?) and I bought a beautiful king-sz comforter set, it took me $2.50 and 10 minutes to figure a way to “velcro” on the bedskirt. Living in a studio apt, the bed is the focal point of the room, so it needs to look good. You can’t tell this from a regular bed! I LOVE IT!! My back has felt better sleeping on this than my $600 serta set! I’d find myself adding 30 seconds worth of air to it a couple times a week, but I’m telling you, it was AMAZING!
I even had a housewarming party in my new little place, I just deflated it and stuck it in the closet, opening up the whole space! Left sheets on, it took 5 mins total!
Then last week I woke in the middle of the night, and it seemed to have lost 1/3 of it’s air or something. I was STUCK in it (bad when you’re getting up to pee! =). I re-inflated it (neighbors must have LOVED the noise) and it was fine til the next night, same thing. Can’t find the leak!
Called INTEX, they warranty for 90 days (I’m at like 95 days) and it takes 3 wks for a replacement. They wanted me to cut out the pump mechanism and cut out the INTEX logo and send it to them, which is going to leave me sleeping on the floor. Intex actually suggested I go out and buy one at Walmart and then return it when my replacement arrived.
I’m so bummed seeing that everyone else had the same problem. I really loved this bed!
