I ache if I can’t sleep with you every night, my one and only Isotonic Memory Foam Pillow Standard Size
Isotonic Memory Foam Pillow Standard Size
Isotonic Extra Loft Memory Foam Pillow
I had a serious neck injury last year and my whole world seemed clouded by pain. Waking up was the worst. I would be in so much pain that I could barely get out of bed. After physical therapy and a lot of time, things settled down but one very important part of my recovery was switching from the two or three fluffy pillows I slept on to the Isotonic Memory Foam Pillow Standard Size.
When my doctor and physical therapist insisted that I get this pillow, I balked. I loved to sleep propped up and had all my life. I hate flat pillows and need (or thought I needed) at least two pillows under my head. Come to find out, using so many pillows was only aggravating my bulging and herniated cervical discs. The doctor specified this particular pillow so I went on a quest to find it. I figured if I had to be miserable for the rest of my life in bed (sleeping anyway), I might as well have the best pillow under me making me miserable (It made sense at the time!).
I found the pillow, hated it for the first two weeks, almost gave up, then got used to it, and now, I cant sleep without it. My neck pain is virtually gone unless I mess up and forget my pillow and have to sleep on regular pillows in hotels or motels when traveling.

My Experience
I was taken aback by the price of this pillow. Were talking $60 for a piece of foam!! But I needed it and was told I had to have it so I shelled out the money and grumbled all the way home.
The pillow was encased in a nice reusable plastic bag with handles (Should have been a mink bag for that price, I recall thinking).
The pillow itself, which is about 15×21×5, is encased in a thick terry cloth cover which zips off to be washed. You can use that as a pillowcase or use a pillowcase over the terry cloth covering.
The pillow is light and foam. The ends are somewhat rounded to accommodate your neck. When you lie on your side as I do, your head is cradled in the foam and your neck is cushioned and kept perfectly stable and straight. Your body and head are at the same height. I was used to sleeping with my head and neck propped up so the first time I tried to sleep with this pillow, I was very uncomfortable. I wanted my many pillows back.
The foam is very soft and resilient. When you lift your head off of it, the foam springs back almost immediately. Its a very well made pillow and I did look at several others before finally going with the one my doctor suggested.
The bottom, or underneath side, of the pillow is rigged for stability. This pillow will not slide around. Its stable. You can twist and turn all night but the pillow will remain stationary.
You can use this pillow two ways. One side is a bit more built up for larger people. The other side is a little lower for smaller people. I am a smaller person but I admit I used the higher end for a while to adjust to the change in the way my head was situated at night.
I now use the low side and dont think a thing about it. Back sleepers can use the lower end, I assume. Since I do not sleep on my back much, I never really read up on which is the best way to use the pillow when back sleeping. There is a pamphlet with the pillow, though, that explains the positions people sleep in and the best way to use the pillow for the way you sleep.
Because my neck isnt craned or contorted while I sleep, I wake up feeling much less stiff and in no pain. My spine is aligned and all is right with the world. Well, OK, I wont go that far but this pillow has made a big difference in my life.
There are many foam pillows out there and some may be fine for those who dont have neck problems or injuries and just want to keep their spines well aligned. However, if you have any problems with your neck such as bulging or herniated discs, arthritis, or other skeletal injuries, you need this pillow. Its not a gimmick. Its a medical aide.
I tried others before. I tried the cheapo foam pillows at Wal-Mart and one I saw advertised on TV even before my neck injury. I knew sleeping on so many pillows was bad for my neck and I was always stiff and sore when I woke up. The cheapo pillows were hard and felt like yoga bricks under my head. They were dismissed after a few nights.
It took me about two weeks to fully get used to sleeping with just this pillow, but the relief was almost instantaneous. I was feeling better after night one. Once I got used to sleeping on the pillow, I never looked back and never will.
Buying Info
I bought my Isotonic Memory Foam Pillow from a local medical supply store. However, there are many websites that sell this pillow (Be sure it is this exact one). A search on google will bring up several sites that offer it. Its not cheap. It ranges from $89.99 to $59.99. You may find a sale and get lucky. But dont let the high price dissuade you. Your spine and neck are worth the extra money to get a good, high-grade memory foam pillow that, with proper care, should last for many years.
Conclusion
I travel with my Isotonic Memory Foam Pillow and, if by some chance I cant sleep on it, I feel it in the morning. My neck aches and my head hurts. This pillow truly worked miracles for me. I never thought I would get used to sleeping on a pillow that was the same height as my shoulders but, after a couple restless weeks, I cant NOT sleep on the pillow.
If you have any sort of neck injury or if you find that you wake up with an aching neck, spine, or even with persistent headaches, try this pillow. Its head and shoulders (pun intended) above the others out there that I have seen and tried and it truly aligns your spine and takes the pressure off your neck when you sleep. Considering that we are supposed to spend 1/3 of our life sleeping (Big joke there, I spend about 1/6 of my life doing so), $60 is a small price to pay to wake up feeling good and without aches and pains.
For those of us with serious injuries who have to be extra careful, this pillow is truly a medical necessity. There are others out there, but this one, in my opinion, is the best.
5 stars and a thank you to the manufacturers for alleviating my neck pain. I wont even make a snide remark about the price. Its worth every penny to wake up pain free.
