I considered getting a regular perfect sleep mattress, but after seeing that the Fallbrooke was a bit more consistent throughout the top, not to mention the deal the dealer gave us, I decided to go with this one. The California King of course is very big, and I worried about 1 - the mattress going lumpy in the middle, and 2 - moving it.
My first concern evaporated after 7 months of regular use and then 3 months of very heavy use by someone who could not leave the bed at all. After two years the kids jump up and down on top when they can get away with it and it still doesn’t squeak, rattle, or tear. It has not developed any lumpy spots at all and what’s more, the covering on the pillowtop deflects spills until a rag can be grabbed to soak them up. It dries in no time flat.
My second concern did give me pause as we attempted to get this from the room, to the truck to move into an apartment. A queen size really isn’t too bad on weight, a King gets heavy, and a California king cannot be moved with one person. It could be very difficult to even make the bed for someone that does not have a fair amount of strength. I would also suggest more than the complimentary rack that comes with mattress and boxes.
A concern for those who side lay almost exclusively, this mattress and top was made to spring back, you cannot simply form a ’spot’ in it and expect it to be there the next time you get in it. This can cause some pain trying to get comfortable. A few extra pillows can solve the problem somewhat. For those that sleep on their backs or on their front, this is ideal. You get in and just sleep. No wiggling or shifting in and out of ’spots’ to find yours. A few pillows behind you and you can easily sit up to read and whatnot.
My biggest reason for liking this mattress is that when you get up to use the restroom, the top stays warm until you get back. Because I get up a million times a night, use the restroom, check on the kids, get a drink, this is important. I don’t like cold beds. This solved it quite neatly.
The last thing about this is its style. It is always my last concern, but it must be said this mattress has some class. The stitching is even, the pillowtop extends just a bit so when the bed is made it makes the bed look a bit more fluffy, and it was offered in a wide range of good colors from a dark maroon to a sky blue.
