I signed up for Epinions just so I could have the satisfaction of warning people about Duxiana beds.
We bought our Duxiana mattress 6 years ago because of bad backs and have regretted it since the first two weeks of sleeping on it. Our model is a Pascal (Cal. King) which has 6 different spring modules of various degrees of firmness which you can mix and match to suit your needs plus a removable pillow top.
I was attracted to the bed at first because it was touted to be the very best and it certainly seemed so when I first tried it at the showroom. The pillowtop was especially comfortable and I looked forward to never having to buy another bed again. At over $7,000, I assumed it would last forever.
Everything seemed fine at first, but after two weeks, the pillowtop started to compress where my husband and I slept, while the middle stayed aloft creating an extremely uncomfortable lumpiness. When I complained to the saleswoman, she said the pillowtop was not returnable (by law). There was also no guarantee (as other mattress sales outlets offer)of satisfaction, so I could not return the bed itself, only a 20 year guarantee on the coils. After a lot of frustrating discussion that went nowhere, I tried to contact the Duxiana company itself, writing a long email which outlined my complaints and asked for satisfaction. Nothing, not even an acknowledgment of my letter.
To solve the lump problem we took off the pillowtop and slept on the thin pad that covers the spring modules and have been doing this ever since. The modules have this annoying tendency of shifting leaving gaps between them for you to sink into. If you look at the design of this mattress, it seems obvious that this would be a problem, but it never occurred to me to question it. The only solution Duxiana has come up with is to put some velcro on the modules to keep them together, but they still gap and shift around and do not give the support they claim to.
Our backs have been getting steadily worse and now we are determined to get a new mattress–obviously not another Dux.
