Englander Nature’s Finest Foam Rubber Mattress Englander Nature’s Finest I bought a foam rubber mattress when I married in 1954. We used it for about 25 years when we change...
We have had the Englander Latex Foam bed for a little over two years. In the store, it was the most comfortable bed I had ever felt. It had a uniform support that felt unlike any other bed I had ever experienced. The sales person told us that she and her husband had one at home that they absolutely loved claiming that it completely relieved their back pain when nothing else seemed to work. We were unhappy with our current bed, so we bought it. Unfortunately, we did not consult any other sources beforehand.
Whats good about it?
No Pressure points: When the bed is new, the claims of no pressure points are true. The bed is extremely comfortable.
Reduced Motion: Unlike many spring mattresses (even the one with individually wrapped coils), with this bed when one person in the bed rolls over, the other person hardly feels it.
Appearance: The bed looks good especially when it is new. The covering is pretty and feels nice. The box spring that shows under the comforter looks nice.
Whats not so good about it?
Body Impressions: This is my biggest disappointment with the bed. Within a few weeks of getting the bed we started to notice small body impressions. We thought that the problem was just the padding - it would even out after a while. It did not - it just continued to get worse. We now have a very noticeable speed bump in the middle of the bed. When we flip the mattress, the hump is still there. Even top to bottom, there is a significant hammock effect. The bed that started as the most comfortable bed has become a source of back pain for both of us. Just for the record, we are not large people, I weigh about 185 and my wife is under 115.
Heavy Mattress: Flipping the mattress is difficult. It is significantly heavier than the coil based mattress we had before. Even the delivery people were complaining about the weight of these beds!
The Bottom Line: Stick with a good innerspring bed. Save yourself a pain in the back!
