This mattress was great… for about four months. I looked forward to hitting the sack and I felt like we had made the right choice. And then, much to our regret, the bed began to sink. Within six months, we each had a pit in the middle of the bed; mine being significantly bigger due to my weight and size (250lbs, 6′ tall).
Within a year of owning this mattress, my wife and I started noticing that we were waking up sore. We weren’t sleeping as well and didn’t feel rested. If we stayed more than eight hours in bed, it was progressively worse.
The memory foam sure has a memory. As a matter of fact, it does not return to it’s original shape, but remembers your body shape instead.
After 2 years, the bed has been intolerable. When you drop $2,200 (negotiated from $3,000 plus)for a bed with the “foundation”, you expect that it should last at least 5 - 10 years.
The indentations were over 1 1/2″ so we thought, ah hah, we have a warranty claim. Not so quick. We had a little hiccup in the process. Our daughter was born and we did not have time to mess with the bed warranty during this time. Well, to our dissapointment, Simmons warranty has a time limit of like 30 days to receive the paperwork and inspect the mattress after receipt of the claim. We had other things on our mind and only found this out later.
Another note on our purchase. It is difficult to find the right bed by going to the mattress stores and trying them out. We researched this purchase for months. Consumer Reports is useless on the subject of mattresses. The manufacturers make it impossible to comparison shop.
