I have owned my new Tempur Pedic Deluxe Mattress now for three weeks.

I have Lupus, Fibromyalgia, and recently had cervical spine infusion and plate put in. My old mattress was foam but not memory foam. I had to have foam because I have and adjustable bed. When I’d get up after only two hours of sleep in the old mattress I was very stiff and walked like I was 100 years old!

Now on my new Tempur Pedic Deluxe it is unbelievable the relief on my joints, getting up without any stiffness and I sleep for five solid hours. Which to me is a very big deal.

Now for the negatives which I’m hoping will reside.

First off the mattress doesn’t smell like plastic or foam it actually smells like mildew. Sort of reminds me of how some of the kids towels would smell in the school gym! I went to the showroom and told the dealer and he said give it another ten days and if it is still there he’ll come personally and check it out. Well yesterday is three weeks and after 30 days I can’t exchange it so I’m going to call today and ask him to come and check it out.

Secondly, first two nights were like heaven but now I wake up after 5 hours with a lower back pain and cannot stay in the bed. When I get up withing five minutes the pain is gone. I’m wondering if this is just an adjustment period and will hopefully subside.

From what I’ve read here if this continues to be a problem with lower back pain that with Tempur Pedics policy there isn’t anything I can do about it. But if I let the dealer know that this is happening according to Mass. law I can exchange it within 30 days. Which only leaves me one week left. I’m not sure what to do and I’m wondering if the firmer original Tempur Pedic instead of the deluxe would be better and not cause lower back pain. I cannot get the cashmere line as they do not make that one in twin extra long.

Other then the smell and lower back this is the most comfortable mattress I’ve ever been on.

Have any other of you Tempur Pedic Mattress owners had this kind of smell or problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I apologize if this article isn’t as articulate as some think it should be but I tried to keep it to the point and not a lot of personal ramblings. I came here for help and to share my opinion of my mattress. I didn’t realize there was more criteria to be met in how we did this, then what was stated in the review writing guide.

Sorry I did my best.

Thank You
