I purchased a full-size adjustable memory-foam massage bed in early 2006. The bed allows you to raise both your head and legs independently. It also offers a sonoid massage through the use of two separate vibrating motors in the back and leg area. A wireless radio-based remote allows you to adjust the head/foot positions, automatically level the bed, and adjust the massage vibration of the back and leg areas.
The bed is the best value for those who have a medical condition that calls for the adjustable or massage features. The massage portion is not going to replace a high-end massage chair, but is a nice way to relax before falling asleep. I have used it conservatively as the manufacturer states the massage motors should not be run for more than 30 minutes at at time.
There were some problems with receiving the correct mattress. There are two types available in the adjustable line. Latex foam and “memory” foam. The company was good enough to send the shipper out to change out the mattress to the one preferred. Because of that error, I was able to try out both mattresses. The latex is a heavier mattress with somewhat better support. The “memory” foam is not comparable to a Tempurpedic mattress, and has a tendency to allow small objects at the very edge of the bed to fall off. The “memory” foam is the only practical option if you are at all allergic to latex.
There were some negatives I had found. The underside of the bed has exposed mechanisms that may cause injury during bed operation. Additionally, if you are buying the bed at a show/expo, the sales experience can be a bit too much like buying at a car dealership.
