We needed a new bed. We went to the furniture store and looked around and chose a bed. Not an easy task to accomplish. There are so many beds out there, so many different types of wood, different styles, sizes, etc… But, we finally chose a bed.
Now we had to find a new mattress and box spring to go along with the new bed. This part was much more fun than the selection of the bed. We wandered over to the mattress department of the furniture store. There were so many to choose from. How could we possibly ever select one mattress and box spring?
The friendly salesman told us to try out the mattresses. We looked at him a little funny at first. Then we started testing out the mattresses.
This was a little embarrassing with other customers in the store.
We got on each mattress and lay down. People were passing by, looking at us and getting little grins on their faces.
As we lay on each different mattress, we could actually feel the difference in comfort. All of them felt good to lay on, but some felt better than others. We narrowed our choice down to two mattresses, both of them Sealy.
We chose the Sealy Posturepedic, Ultra Plush, Wilmington model. We chose that particular mattress because it felt the best when we lay on it. We tried it at least 3 times.
When the mattress, box spring, and bed were delivered I couldn’t wait to set it up and sleep on it. We put the bed frame together and attached the head board and foot board. Then we put the box spring on the frame. So far, so good.
Next, we placed the mattress on top of the box spring. I stood there looking at it for a minute and the first thought that crossed my mind was, "Where did I leave the step ladder?"
The bed frame was the average height. The bed frame with the box spring on it was the average height. Once the mattress was on top, it looked very high. Sealy makes a VERY thick mattress.
The mattress turned out to be very comfortable to actually sleep on, although the height can cause a nose bleed.
One thing to keep in mind though. The only sheets that will fit the mattress and stay on are sheets that are at least 230 thread count. Any thread count less than 230 and you will be fighting every night trying to put the sheets back on the mattress.
I don’t know how many springs the mattress has, and I have no clue what kind of cover it has. And I have no clue as to how thick in inches the mattress is. But one thing that I AM positive of is the fact that it sure is comfortable!!
