I bought the full sized bed at Big Lots for 100 dollars. I’ve had it for about a year and a half now. The reason I got this bed is because…. I was moving into my first apartment. I was on the waiting list and staying with a friend until I was able to move in. Well, he only had a one bedroom apartment and snored terribly. I got this bed to put in the living room and sleep on for about a month.
The model I bought is the basic Aerobed (not the one that raises to a normal bed height).
The first thing I noticed is that the pump is VERY loud. VERY loud. It is louder than a normal vacuum cleaner! It takes about a minute and a half to inflate completely. What is nice is that the remote lets the user control how firm or soft the bed is by releasing or adding air. I also like the fact that the pump is built into the bed and not a separate detachable or protruding thing like many cheaper imitations.
The bed is reasonably comfortable for one person. It is designed to be used one or a few nights in a row. One can still tell that they are on an airbed. It squeaks and responds to movement much the same way pool float would.
When I moved, I didn’t have a truck or money go get a new real bed. I kept sleeping on this Aerobed for almost a year. Then, my cat accidentally made a hole in the side and it began to deflate. It does come with two patches and some glue. I used one patch to fix it. It was fixed for a while and started leaking again.
As was confirmed by my boyfriend, this bed is for sleeping ONLY. And it allows a fair quality of sleep at best. Do NOT attempt other vigorous “miscellaneous” activities in this bed. Let’s just say the way the bed responds to movement isn’t romantic. I’ll leave it at that.
Four months ago I just couldn’t handle it anymore. I bought a real bed. When I woke up on the Aerobed, I was still tired and my back hurt. Not anymore!
It is now my “guest” bed and I inflate it whenever friends want to sleep over. Of course by morning they are flat on the ground and I cannot find any leaks. That makes it a little more adventurous!
By the way, it does come with a carrying/storage bag. There is no way that even Houdini himself could get the bed back in the small zippered storage bag. It may make a good gym bag though!
