Reviews
Caveat Emptor
Positive Fast setup, portability, and comfort
Cons: Extremely poor durability and customer service
There’s no doubt about the ease of use and comfort of this bed, until seams start popping and as long as you can keep air in it. I purchased a twin a few years ago, and it lasted about a year. Then the support cells started giving way and now it looks like it’s pregnant. I complained to Aero without results, but noticed some months later an ad for an “improved” Aerobed. I purchased one after calling Aero to describe my problems again and inquire about the likelihood of a similar failure. I was told not to worry, that the first one had been a fluke. Yep. It was. It didn’t spring multiple (and major) leaks and tears in the vinyl after the first month of use, and the second one has also blown the six cells in the section of the bed I sleep. In short, this bed is a waste of money. It doesn’t matter how comfortable it is when inflated, if you have to reinflate it two or three times a night to keep your tailbone off the hardwood, it’s not worth a cent.
excellent, but durability questionable
Positive excellent concept, excellent comfort
Cons: questionable durability, especially the raised versions
the bed and the idea itself is excellent. i’ve had 3. twin, twin raised, and queen raised. the twin raised gave out in 6 months with intermittent use (~3x/wk). i had no problems with it at until the last month of its life or so when multiple holes started occuring, which kept recurring despite patching. the small twin is going strong after many years of infrequent use. the queen raised is ok so far (a couple of months old now), it has a different surface that has a suede-like feel type of covering, but we’ll see if it lasts…. they really need to reinforce the surfaces some more…
Hole-y terror
Positive Comfortable
Cons: Cheap
After only using our Aerobed a dozen times, we developed several holes along the seams near the “coils”. They are nearly impossible to patch; both with the kit supplied and with tire repair kits. As previous reviewers have noted, the warranty is only 1 year and they are VERY stern about this and will not budge. $200 is an aweful lot to spend on something that is presumably going to be replaced every 12 months.
Aero Bed saved my vacation!
Positive Easy set up, comfortable, easily transported.
Cons: Mattress gets really cold if not covered under fitted sheet.
We had vacation plans at a cabin in the mountains. I decided to bring the Aerobed, just in case we needed it. My husband thought I was crazy and packing unnecessary stuff. Fortunately we had it with us because his snoring got to be so bad, I couldn’t sleep. I set up the Aerobed in the living room and slept like a baby for the rest of our stay.
Plastic degrades over time and holes appear.
Positive Easy set-up. Comfortable. Can be stored in closet when not in use.
Cons: Holes, holes and more holes.
As others have noted, this bed is fine when it is working. It is easy to inflate and it is surprisingly comfortable for overnight guests. We placed ours on a stainless steel folding frame and it doubled very nicely as a temporary bed.
But then the holes started appearing and the bed was rendered useless. These holes always show up on the margins of the depressed “dimples” or “cells” that cover the sleeping surface. These can be patched with GOOP or another strong adhesive, but it seems that as soon as one is patched another developes. You find yourself worrying through the night about how the guests are doing.
The real frustration is that we did not use this bed that many times. It’s well past its warranty so we either try to repair ir or we throw it out. I have read online that the mattress can be sprayed with an acrylic based paint that does a good job in reinforcing the plastic. I may give that a try next.
Never mind!
Positive Inflates quickly, easily adjustable, stores quickly and easily.
Cons: Doesn’t hold up.
I believe the overall idea of these beds is a good one, however the execution could be much better.
I do agree with the others that the beds are comfortable if inflated correctly (you must try over a number of nights to get the correct pressure. This could be a problem if guests only stay a night or so). I do not agree with those that claim the durability is good overall.
I bought one of these almost a year ago (a twin size) and it sprung a leak about a week ago. My wife and I have looked all over and can’t find the leak. I am guessing the leak is related to the marriage point of the pump and the bladder. I have tried many other types of inflatables in past years and they all seem to last about a year before failing. This is my last inflatable. I just bought an Isotonic folding bed from Bed Bath and Beyond and will see how it holds up to the various uses over the coming months.
holes, holes, nothing but holes
Positive Firm when full of air which is not often.
Cons: Gets holes at its seams.
I have had two aerobeds. Both of them quickly developed holes. To be sure, I did not buy the second aerobed. It was a gift. In both beds, the holes developed around the seams where one plastic piece joins another. I bought the first bed because the mattress is firm but I will NEVER by another aerobed product. Usually the holes developed when a guest was staying with us, so it was very embarrassing not to mention awful for them.
Aero Paws Dog Bed
Positive Good design.
Dogs find it comfortable.
Cons: No replacement covers sold!
Poor and slow responses from customer service.
Customer service said that a replacement cover was available for this dog bed. I ordered the dog bed and a replacement cover. Instead, I received one cover and three inflatable mattresses. Sorry, said customer service, you can order all the inflatable mattresses you want, but you cannot get another cover. Makes no sense to me. Our dogs really liked the dog bed (with cover). I am returning the whole lot and recommending to my fellow dog owners not to make this expensive purchase until Aero sees the light and provides customers with what they need.
