Sleep before Fonda:

Growing up I had a twin size mattress, which was so old it could have been my mother’s when she was a kid. Next, I slept on a futon, followed by a dormitory bed. After college, my hubby and I bought our first double bed with a mattress from a personal newspaper ad. The mattress was so flat and hard, we might as well have slept on our wood floor. In April 2005, we gathered up some gift money from our engagement and headed to Raymour and Flanigan for a new mattress.

The following is our six-month review regarding our Queen Size Bragada Vienna Mattress set.

Over the past few months, we have experienced three problems concerning our Bragada Vienna Mattress requiring corrective actions:

1. Because the weight of our mattress is so heavy, it has caused stress to our already heavy bed, creating an annoying squeak from the headboard.

2. Because our bed is heavy with our new mattress, moving it is extremely difficult and labor intensive.

3. As the temperatures in our Rocky Mountain state has become frigid this winter, so too the temperature in our house is cooler (5-10° cooler than summer) than when we set up our Vienna Mattress. With that said our Vienna Mattress and Serenity Pillows are too cold and firm when we first get in bed, taking longer to conform to our bodies. In addition, it is recommended not to use an electric blanket in an effort to warm up the bed since it may damage or alter the effectiveness of the Visco Elastic Memory foam.

Mixed Feelings about my bed

Positive very comfortable, mattress wonderful
Cons: too many repairs, both motors gone, brace replaced for foot & head.

I purchased a wired remote twin about four years ago. It cost $2000 Canadian on sale. Parts for repairs have to be sent from N. Carolina. I live in W. Canada! I have had to have this bed repaired four times at a cost of about $100 per time for postage and repairs.

I did quite a lot of research and testing of mattresses in my area and found the Spring Air to be by far the most comfortable and best buy for the money. Unfortunately, within a couple of years it had huge (we are talking three inch deep) body impressions in it. I called the Factory and they sent out a rep. No problem it was under warranty. They took it back and three weeks later I have the same mattress back with a “belly band” around the middle of it. Now it is as hard as a rock and I can easily feel the edges of the “belly band” with my knees, even through the padded mattress cover. I call Spring Air. No problem. They will credit me for the mattress and let me come to the factory and pick out a new one. Now I love these guys right? I am singing their praises to anyone who will listen. They deserve it. That is some serious commitment to customer service. We got to the factory meet with the area rep and sure enough, we walk out of there with a $4000.00 top of the line pillow top for about a thousand dollars after we discounted out credit from our original mattress. We are flying high and determined to love this mattress and never buy another one from any other company ever.

I will start by saying this mattress and foundation are very good products and deliver as advertised. I chose the Opulance model over the lesser choices because I have had back spasms and associated back problems that resisted change throughout the time using a traditional coil mattress and box spring combination. My wife has a hip condition and similar issues of pain and discomfort and so we were considering relief first and comfort second. My wife and I checked what is currently available on the market and toured the local specialty stores. The choices available in today’s market, in sleep products, are mind boggling and amazing!

TRYING THIS AND TRYING THAT

When I was young and lived at my parents house, I slept on the bed they bought me. I had no idea what type of mattress it was other than it took full size sheets and that it was turned every six months. And really, that was more than I cared to know.

I have a ruptured disc in my lower back so I have to be careful about re-injury and what kind of support I’m getting from my mattress. I shopped around and looked at the Tempur-pedic (felt like I’m laying in wet sand & its kind of hot) and Select Comfort. I was ready to order the Select Comfort & happened upon Comfortaire. The price was so much less, they have a better warranty, and there wasn’t the hard foam center bar that I was reading about with Select Comfort so I decided to give it a try.

My husband and I were looking to purchase a king size bed (we currently have a queen). We left the Tempurpedic store a little surprised by the prices and questioning if it was worth the investment. At that point, we were just shopping to see if this bed would fit in our budget. We left the Tempurpedic store and headed across the parking lot to Costco to do some shopping. We came across the King Size Novaform and did an impulse buy knowing that Costco would return the mattress if we were not happy with it. We got it home, unwrapped it and left it take full shape for 24 hours. The initial smell of the mattress is a bit strong and needs time to air out. We’ve slept on the mattress for 4 nights now and have decided it’s a keeper. After my first nights sleep, I woke up with more energy that I have in a long time. I really feel a lot more rested than I have in the past sleeping on my former mattress. The foam doesn’t allow for movement as a spring mattress does, so you are not disturbed by your mates movement in the bed. I’m pregnant and get up and down to the bathroom throughout the night and I don’t have to worry about waking my husband up.
