I owned a Duxiana bed (top of the line model 7000 series) for 4 1/2 years. It has 3 layers of different types of springs - the top layer is supposed to be customizable for each sleeper.

At first, I thought I had made a good decision. But, after 4 years, it started to sag in the middle (I’m not a heavy person - 135 lbs, and neither is my husband - 175 lbs). After hassling with the store, we got a replacement. But, it didn’t last very long either.

Yes, we know how expensive it is. We have heard all kinds of remarks from friends and family about how much we paid for “an inflatable mattress”, and how could such a lightweight piece of furniture hold up?”. Bottom line, I will probably never buy another type of bed. Fibromyalgia, a disorder that has been likened to “arthritis in the muscle and soft tissue”, can cause serious sleep disturbance due to the fact that pressure on muscles and soft tissue is very often painful and distracting. Within one week of delivery of our Nautilus bed, I was already sleeping through the night most nights. Upon awaking, I felt much more refreshed and ready to face the day. It has been two years, and I still wouldn’t part with it. Yes, it is lightweight, but seems to be made of quality materials. It has help up well, and shows little if any wear. It has to be pretty durable, because we have an eight year old son who likes to jump on the bed to wake us up on Saturday mornings! It is easy to move, easy to make up, and the motor is quiet during adjustment. My husband loves a really soft bed, and I have to have a firmer one, so this is the best solution available. I no longer toss and turn and keep him awake, so his sleep has improved as well. One word of advice: Hide the controls from your kids - they love to adjust it up and down!

I am a former store manager for Select Comfort. The truth is the 7000 model is a very comfortable model. The foam that’s used is called intralux. It has a rayon topping. The fault with this bed is that there are a number of components. Chambers, base foam, air pump, controller, center foam, 11 part foundation. After investing $2,600.00 on queen set and $3,200.00 for king set. You should not have to invest another dime for the next 20 years. The problem is that you have to spend additional money to maintain this mattress set. Yes, you have to invest money in this mattress. The warranty is 20 years yes but, only the first two years are 100% coverage. The additional 18 years are proprated. In laymen terms means you have to pay, if these parts break, faded or sag. ( the pillowtop or top cover is NOT UNDER WARRANTY and from my experince in bedding it’s always the pillowtop that’s goes first. ) So you really never know the total cost of the mattress set. How much will you need to fork out is total unknown. For instance, suppose you compressor goes out 10 year after you purchased the mattress. The company now tells you that in order to get a compressor for that mattress that I’m sure they no longer manufacter will be $400.00!! What can you do about it? Nothing! pay the price of go out and purchase a new mattress set. That’s not only for the compressor but for all parts and components of the mattress. For the money you should have a 100% warranty, 100% of the time. The reason I’m writing this reveiw is because while with the company I had to be quiet but, I’ve always agreed with the customer but never could say so. It’s a shame that people don’t really listen to what’s being said. They get caught up in the emotions and suffer later. Do your research. The fact of the matter is that you can purchase alot of great bedding for $3000.00 with a full warranty. 100%. Let’s face it. How much does 2 rubber chambers( EST. $50.00) sidewall foam (EST. $5.00) Controller ( EST $30.00)Air Pump (EST $40.00) Base foam (EST $5.00) Matress cover with Cashmere shaving (EST. $200.00) Intralux Foam (est. $300.000 ) Plastic Foundation ( EST $40.00 )total cost of Mattress is $ 630.00 to make. Why shouldn’t you have a 100% warranty? You are proably paying triple of the cost of manufacturing the mattress. As stated, this company is a cash cow!!! Let’s start giving some back to the people who are making them so rich, That’s you. You might find this mattress very warm. This is the complaint that’s come across my desk the most about this mattress. Personal I did not experience this but everyone is different. I like my mattress warm. I endorse you to atleast look at the Comfortaire sleep number matresses. The same person developed the Select Comfort Mattress is the same person that developed the Comfortaire Sleep Number Mattress. How different can they be?? There is two significant differences. One the price is much lower and the warranty is much greater. Do the research for yourself.

My husband and I can never agree on a bed. I have tried the Select Comfort in the store before, on my own, and liked it.

We went together and decided on the Select Comfort 7000 Eastern King (yes, we graduated from a Queen!). We paid for the set-up ($99.95) and the delivery arrived right on time. It took about 20 minutes for them to set it up and off they went.

I did notice the “rubber” smell for the first hour. After that, the smell dissipated.

This bed is obviously not for everyone. Purchased the queen (mattress only), for a platform bed. On the first night, I awoke with numbness in both arms and hands. Needless to say, I was a tad concerned but I chalked it up to sleeping in a strange position. On the second night, I awoke first with shooting pains in my neck, followed by numbness in one arm and pain in the other. The next morning, I called Tempurpedic to return the bed.

I had a car accident that left me with some relatively minor neck and back damage (didn’t feel minor of course). With my old regular mattress I was stuck in a horrible catch 22. The more I hurt, the more I just wanted to lie there, and the more I lay or slept, the more I hurt.

After sleeping on the tempurpedic mattress for just a night I could feel a major difference in my sleep and body and knew it would only get better. I have had the mattress for a few months now and have almost NO MORE PAIN throughout the day. It is UNBELIEVABLE! This mattress not only saved my body and posture, but I can even see the difference in my mood and attitude from getting the sleep I couldn’t get for years.

Ok this is not all from personal experience but my parents purchased it.

The TV Ads are slick. From the sales pitch it sounds like a nice bed no doubt.

My parents tried it in a store. And like it a bit. Again I think they were more sold on the TV ad than then product demo. So they forked over gosh… $1500

I have been shopping and pricing these beds for years. Nothing really stood out with Tempur-Pedic than other memory foam mattress’s that would warrant me paying such a high price. I formally had a Simmons World Class mattress that I loved for the first 6 mos, then it broke down. I want to make it clear I am not a heavy person weighing in at under 140. I have developed neck and shoulder pain from sleeping on a bad mattress. I tried a memory foam topper, that did not work, it seemed to make matters worse. I guess it can only be as good as the mattress you put it on and I was sleeping on a very soft mattress.

So when Tempur-Pedic came out with several new lines I starting shopping again. I intended to get the Euro Bed but was told by the Tempur-Pedic sales people themselves it was very firm. I thought about the new Celebrity (the price is a lot to swallow) and talking with one particular salesman at a local store I decided to go with the Rhapsody Bed. It has the new 7lb comfort layer on top. The salesman really made all the difference, so he made the sale. The beds are the same price no matter where you go, it is what you get with the deal, I got the mattress protector, and 2 comfort pillows, and free delivery which the sales person did on his own so I knew my mattress would be taken care of.

I have slept on this mattress for 3 nights so far. What I have noticed is, my neck and shoulder do not hurt as much, I am no longer stiff when I get up and I seem to sleep sounder and longer through the night. The bed to me seems cold when I first get in (therefor harder at first) but the foam does warm during the night. This might prove to be a problem, I like to sleep cool.

I will update this site in about 6 mos to see how everything is going for future buyers.

We bought our Simmons Beautyrest Exceptionale Keegan mattress about 3.5 months ago and it was one of the best purchases we’ve ever made! After years of sleeping on a hard, old mattress where there was a dip in the middle and you could feel the springs - where I woke up every single morning with an aching back - I persuaded my fiance that we NEEDED a new mattress. So, after some shopping around, we decided the hell with the price…let’s just get something that’s as comfortable as possible!

During our 20+ years that my husband and I have been together, we have bought and replaced 5 different mattresses! We would toss and turn during the night, only to wake up with aches and pains because of the impressions imprinted in the mattress. We would constantly flip and turn the mattresses on a regular basis. Two of our mattresses were still under warranty, and we found out quickly what a hassle it is to get the company to honor their warranty. They will send a rep out to your home and use a ruler to measure your indentations that have permanently resided in your mattress. Then after constant insistence from you, they may honor their warranty but you still have to pay for another mattress based on their pro-rata formula. The new mattress comes and the same thing happens. Enough was enough. There is enough stress in our life when we are awake without having to deal with stress when you are trying to sleep.
