Worst mattress ever: Sealy Posturepedic Crown Jewel Mattress Sealy Posturepedic Crown Jewel Mattress

Mattress Reviews

My three year old mattress is going back to the store I purchased it from after countless nights of bad sleep due to major mattress sagging. I’m all of 135 lbs and for the first two years of owning the mattress I slept alone, flipping the mattress every 6 months as recommended. Of course, with my heavy travel schedule, I was only sleeping on the bed a few weeks out of each month — if that much. That should tell you just how bad this mattress is if a relatively light weight person, sleeping alone, only half the time, and flipping as recommended, experiences such terrible sagging.

After Months of using Hate it! Nautilus Sleep Systems Ultimate Series Mattress

Mattress Reviews

I was tired of steel coiled mattress’s always wearing out and beginning to sag or sink in the middle. Our $1500 mattress was sagging badly after 3 years so it was time to buy a new mattress. I saw the commercials for the Nautilus Sleep System and for the Sleep Number beds. I also have a back problem that only hurts me at night. I can only sleep for about 5 hours before the pain sets in and I have to get out of bed. So they claimed this bed would help support your back and you would be able to set the air level for your desired comfort level. We got the bed, I was really happy with the quality of the parts and material. I was able to set it up very quickly. I also purchased the base to make sure the bed had the right support. For the bed to have that solid look, it required the mattress to be aired all the way to 100% level. It was only after about 6 weeks that the bed already began to show the sagging and sinking in the places where you sleep. In fact it looked worse after 6 weeks than our coil mattress did after 3 years. Then even worse we realized that the foam supports to support the outside edges of the bed began to wear down as well. Its like sleeping on a hill as I feel like I’m rolling out of bed every night. As for the back support my back is worse now and I end-up sleeping on the couch more than the bed. All I can say is don’t believe the info-mercials - don’t waste your money and don’t let the 90 day warranty hook you in as you will pay a fortune to ship the unit back not to mention just trying to get it all back in the box. By something that will last - not an air-bed.

Bergad actually custom designed a mattress for me ! Bergad Isoform Mattress

Mattress Reviews

Well, me and my wife had both been complaining for some time about our mattress . It no longer was providing us with the kind of sleep we needed . We both would toss and turn sometimes taking hours to fall asleep . So we came to the decision that a new mattress was necessary . We went down to a local mattress store and tried out some beds . Well the one that we really liked was the tempurpedic celebrity . When the salesman told us the price we were shocked . They wanted nearly 4 grand for this mattress . This right there put the damper on our hopes to buy one locally .

LOVE THIS SYSTEM! LOVE IT! SAM Mattress

Mattress Reviews

My husband and I both suffer from lots of infirmities that have developed since we hit middle age: sleep apnea, arthritis, degenerative disc disease…blah, blah, blah. You get the picture.

We just received our new sam mattress with the whole adjustable bed shabang…oh, my, god! How wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comfortable! Fab! Terrific! There aren’t enough words to describe the difference between the pretty-darn-high-end bedding we have with the “Sam and company” we just got.

My husband, the most difficult human on the face of the earth, smiled. He’s also cheap, by the way, and balked at the price I paid for this set-up. He’s not unhappy anymore!

Sleep number bed = snake oil Select Comfort Mattress Sleep Number 5000

Mattress Reviews

My wife and I bought this bed back in December 2004. After four months on it, we’d much rather throw the whole thing in the trash and forget about it. We bought it because my wife had increasing back pain from our old mattress, and we thought that from reading some of the reviews here, and trying it out for a few minutes at a local Sleep Number Bed store, it would help her back. We were really wrong.

Bought 2 of them and couldn’t be more satisfied. Very comfor Sealy Backsaver Mattress

Mattress Reviews

We needed two new mattresses, and received an ad in the mail. After checking other prices, and checking the "feel" of these mattresses, we decided this was just what we needed. My wife had some back problems, and these were very comfortable to her.We bought one King size and one queen size. They are firm enough to give support, and not too firm to make you uncomfortable. Those who have slept on the queen size have commented about how comfortable they are.We have no complaints about them, and would highly recommend them to anyone who needs a good support mattress. I thought they were very reasonable in price. For both sets with springs, the ADRIA total was $751.75. We are well pleased with them. Also, we were pleased with the courtesy and service of the company, TODAY’S MATTRESS PLUS. We have had the mattresses about a year and have no complaints.

Spring Air King size foundation is misrepresented. Spring Air Comfort Caress Collection Mattress

Mattress Reviews

It is time for me to move into a house that I rebuilt and

I need a new bed. I’ve been sleeping on a waterbed for about

fifteen years and have had enough so I’ve been considering

what to buy. Since I’ve had a lower back problem for a

very long time this is an important decision for me. I finally concluded that a Simmons with individual coils would

be the safest choice.

Barrows Fine Furniture in South Alabama advertised in my

local paper announcing a sale with factory representatives

present to assist in sales. Barrow’s listed Simmons as

one of the brands represented so on August 11, 2001 I

went to the store. While being greeted to the store I let them know I was interested in a Simmons bed. I was taken

straight to the Spring Air floor model. Since I was unfamiliar with Spring Air I asked if they didn’t have a Simmons. The rep told me this one had coils just like the

Simmons while showing me the cut-away model. This bed looked

OK and it seemed comfortable so I continued to listen. During the course of the presentation the Sales Representative walked over and brought back a mock-up of the

foundation. This mock-up was constructed of yellow pine which didn’t have a knot in sight. The dimensions of the

wood looked good and it had two bent steel bars lengthwise

on the bottom. The cross-members in the mock-up were closer

together in the middle than at the ends. The rep explained that it was this way for extra support in the middle. That

seemed like a good idea and the mock-up was heavy and well

constructed. The rep said that this is how they are made.

I needed a bed and this one was a little cheaper than a

Simmons I had priced so I made a deal to buy the Spring Air

Comfortflex “Jasmine” model with frame for $1099.

It was loaded on my truck and brought home. This was a King-size bed with a two piece foundation. When I picked up a

section of the foundation off the truck I was shocked that it didn’t weigh much at all;nothing like what I expected it to. I went ahead and set it up in my new room noticing that

the mattress had a different number than my receipt but it

looked the same as the showroom model except that the pillow top didn’t come out to the edge of the mattress. The

edge of the pillow top was 1 1/2 inches back from the edge

of the body of the mattress on each side. This upset me a good bit. It seemed to me that I had been robbed of 3 inches

of bed space. I decided to examine the foundation a little

closer so I moved the mattress and flipped one of the sections over. Looking through the thin cover on the bottom

I could see that the cross-members were pretty narrow and had knots and were also made of a very soft variety of wood

which wasn’t yellow pine. I know something about wood. I’ve

sawed it on sawmills, studied it in books, and built plenty

of things from it including houses so I know what I’m talking about when I tell you that the wood under this bed

wasn’t yellow pine or nearly as strong. This wood was light

and knotty, nothing at all like the mock-up. I noted that

it looked more narrow than the mock-up as well, so I measured all the components. I didn’t have to measure to know that the components were smaller but I did before going

back to Barrows to confirm it. It was just as I thought. The

mock-up had bigger dimensions on every component than the

foundation I had at home. Also the cross-members on the foundation I had at home were evenly spaced along its length, not closer in the middle like the mock-up. I can

say without hesitation that Spring Air, through its representative and its mock-up, misrepresented it’s king-size foundation to be of higher quality than it actually is.

I’m not saying anything about the durability or comfort, I didn’t sleep on the bed. I consider it a very poor quality

in workmanship due to the fact that the pillow top was too

narrow and the plastic corners on the foundation were coming loose. They were held on by very thin staples which were not much bigger than office staples. Also there were

many hanging threads all over the foundation.

I talked with the Spring Air representative and requested

that he tell his superior to call me. I never heard from

Spring Air about this. Word filtered back to Barrows that

I was very upset about the misrepresentation and I was

called by their management, not Spring Air. I’m sure that

Barrows was covering their legal butt when they sent me the

registered letter offering me my money back to return the

bed. I didn’t think it was enough compensation but after

consulting an attorney I decided I wouldn’t be compensated

enough to spend any time with the legal system.

I have returned the bed to the store at my own time and expense having never slept on it. I told the salesperson from Barrows who assisted the Spring Air factory representative that it appeared Spring Air didn’t want to

confront the issue so I would just confront it on my own.

Therefore, you have my story and my opinion.

You don’t have to take my word on it either, just go to a

Spring Air dealer and compare the mock-up to the King-size

foundation.

I don’t recommend buying a Spring Air product.

The tricks of the vendors…. Sealy Posturepedic Mattress

Mattress Reviews

Everyone who is shopping for a new Sealy mattress knows this: It is almost impossible to compare prices between the Kleinsleeps, Sealys, or mattress.com. The same mattress has different names depending where you look. It starts to become a science comparing mattresses of the same manufacturer at different vendors. At the end it only helps to look at the pure facts and compare them:

Every innterspring mattress has what is called a “unit” and this is the spring system. Each unit has a coil count the number of coils) and a gauge (the thickness of the wire). Just ten years ago, most mattresses had anywhere from 252 coils to 390 coils in a full-size set of bedding. (coil counts are always quoted in the full-size). And the gauge was fairly thick, perhaps 12 1/2 to 13 1/2 (the higher the number, the thinner the wire). As an example, a “312-13-6″ mattress is simply a mattress with a unit of 312 springs at 13 gauge with a 6 gauge (very thick) border wire.

We bought a “Bridges Ltd” queen size mattress at Kleinsleep. The exactly same mattress was named “St.Julian” at mattress.com. The sales person was so kind to show us a list of the different names for the same mattress.

The mattress is generally very good. But we unfortunately did not consider the following things, which might have changed our decision:

- we don’t use a boxspring so that the mattress appears quite firmer than we thought

- if you have two people sleeping on the mattress movements of your partner are felt also on the other side (pocket coils or two mattresses might an option).

Another tip: Never buy a mattress for the displayed price!! You can negotiate a good discount and free delivery

I finally found it! Stearns & Foster Collington Mattress

Mattress Reviews

The way I had found out about Stearns & Foster was purely by accident. I couldn’t drive home because of a snow storm. I stayed at a friend’s house and slept on a bed that I found to be the most comfortable I had ever experienced. I wrote down the name but didn,t pay much attention to it until a later date. I walked into a mattress store, asked for the most comfortable mattress that they had, not too firm, and not too soft. I was shown a Stearns & Foster mattress, the Collington, tried it out, and then suddenly remembered my experience, how comfortably I had slept on my friend’s guest bed during that snow storm, pulled out the piece of paper that had the name and type of mattress that I had slept on; a Stearns & Foster! Eureka! I had struck gold! I didn’t mind the price which was actually reasonable, especially when one realizes just how much time a body spend’s on a mattress. Obvious is the extreme quality that goes into the making of these mattresses, the construction, the stitching, the detail and care. Given the amount of mattresses that I had previously tried, the frustration involved, I was thrilled to finally find the perfect mattress for me. The only problem that I am now having with it is that I can’t keep my dog and cat off of it as they evidently share my opinion.
